Eagles Cut to 53 Tracker Thread!

When NFL team owners in May voted to eliminate the first of two traditional roster cut-down periods before the start of the regular season, they gave coaches an extra week or so to evaluate players who may or may not make their teams. Those players, in turn, were given extra time to prove their worthiness.

But the NFL roster cut rule change also created what will be a chaotic — and in many cases, devastating — two-day stretch from Friday morning through Saturday afternoon.

NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET Saturday to trim their 90-man rosters down to 53 players. Each team will release up to 37 players, meaning more than 1,100 players around the NFL will lose their jobs. While 320 of those players will be signed to practice squads (10 practice squad players per team), about 800 will not.

Interested to see what happens to Pump and Gerry.

Interested to see what happens to Clement.

Also interested to see what happens to Taylor Hart.

Pulling hard for Don Cherry to make it. I think he could end up developing into a respectable rotational linebacker.

Pulling hard for Tre Sullivan to make it. Thoughts of a big hitter on this team, would make me so happy.

Pulling hard for Qualls to make it to.  Hes been nothing but a stud through camp and everything i read about his performance in games.

Funny, Mosher was pontificating on the radio.

Apparently, from what he is getting from his colleagues is that there's going to be a ton of trades. Trash for trash type trades before these guys get all out released. I didn't see that coming but does make complete sense.

And also, he thinks they could be trading Trey Burton because they apparently love Billy Brown. Had no idea there was going to be a shakeup. But they could certainly use some infusion. Celek is our blocking TE and this is certainly his last year. Burton is set for FA after this year.

I didn't think Grugier-Hill was going to make it but I guess he's a lock. I don't think he even dressed last night. No way Cherry makes it. I hope Walker and Gerry make it. Gerry has been hurt though.

I think Brown is a goner. We didn't see him at all in the preseason and I haven't heard of any injuries meaning he was a healthy scratch... in the preseason. Unless the team is keeping something under wraps this is a no brainer IMO.

This is wrong.

Brown played a little last night and plenty in the first 2 preseason games.

And, FWIW Spuds said before the game last night that Brown has a shot to make the roster.
