Chiefs acquire LB Darron Lee

Probably WLB for us. Keeps us from having to either force DOD to start, whether he's ready or not, or having to put Ragland at MLB so we can start Hitchens outside. Probably makes WLB and MLB set, with Lee and Hitchens respectively. Just leaves SLB a bit of a question. Probably a rotation, though. Maybe Wilson in base with one of the DEs going there if we want to do something rush heavy. And then just no SLB when we go nickel and dime.

Reviews are really hit or miss from Jets fans.

Almost reminds me of a scouting report of Dorian O'Daniel. So itd be good competition in theory.

Was kinda worried of DOD by himself there. Maybe a change of scheme will really benefit Lee. At least add another body there since it was ignored in the draft.

Darron Lee was a former 1st round pick, #20 overall, and the second linebacker chosen in the 2016 draft.  I mean this is a brilliant addition for a 2020 6th round draft pick on the last year of his rookie deal.  He's coming to a re-vamped Chiefs D that I think is going to have a chip on its shoulder and play above expectations.  They have the Chiefs O as an inspiration.  There is virtually no downside in this signing.  Can you guys say "2020 Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs?"

A steal imo. I was interested when he was put on the block a few weeks ago but figured he would cost a premium pick. A 6th?! Crazy good value

Absolutely. The cost is minimal and the Contract is mostly paid already. As a bonus, he can actually play football

He is likely the new starting WLB. Coverage is DJ grade and the run defense is better than advertised. The Jets drafted him too high and asked him to do things outside his skillset. Give him a good MLB (Hitchens' natural position) and he will patrol the whole field. This is the sort of thing that rebuilds whole teams.

Thinking more on this, one thing I will say, is while I'm skeptical of some of our starters still in the front 7, I feel like our depth on the front 7 has been turned around completely overnight. One of the biggest things I remember from the peak Sutton defenses, is it always seemed like 1 big injury killed the team's momentum. We had like 5 all-pros, but if one of them went down, suddenly we were starting Josh Mauga or Frank Zombo or Phillip Gaines. Our front 7 certainly has less star power than it did a year or two ago, but we can go two deep almost across the board with at least functional players.
