What do Collins, Haskins and Norman have in common?

Dave Gettlmen is the common denominator. Norman ended up here after Gettlemen franchised him and then rescinded the tag bc he wouldn’t give Norman the contract extension money he had earned.

Then, Landon Collins ended up here bc Gettlemen decided to not franchise or re-sign Collins for the amount of money that he was getting offered on the open market.

Then lastly, Haskins ended up on the Redskins bc Gettlemen liked Daniel Jones better as a prospect.

Time will tell whether Gettlemen made the right decision on the last two, I think as far as not re-signing Norman that Gettlemen didn't make the right decision. Norman was part of the reason the Panthers defense helped lead them to the Super Bowl and their secondary hasn't been as good since Gettlemen decided not to re-sign him.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Norman would have stayed elite in CAR’s system, since their coaches actually know how to use him. Smh.

In 2015, Norman’s career year, Norman lined up in a press coverage shell on just 34.1% of his snaps. Over the past three seasons with Washington, he has played in that press coverage look on more than 65.0% of plays.

In 2018, Norman surrendered a 135.6 passer rating when targeted in press-coverage versus a 31.0 passer rating when targeted in off-man coverage.

Dating back to 2012, cornerbacks with 100-plus off-man look targets, Norman’s forced incompletion percentage of 13.6% ranks 15th out of 107 qualifying cornerbacks. His passer rating of 62.1 when targeted ranks fourth over the same period.

Even the common fan knew that Norman is a better zone corner than man corner. He's almost a liability when he's playing press man. Our coaches never want to bend to their players though, it's their scheme or nothing. At least they are consistent I guess.

I would say knowledgeable fans know this but most Redskins fans want our corners to always play press man like Darrell Green did in the 80s & 90s, even if our current corners aren't best at playing press man.

Is this in a tweet somewhere?

Thanks man

He is currently the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, but his 72.2 overall grade last season ranked 49th at his position. Norman has yet to reach his career-high 85.7 grade (2015) while in Washington, and surrendered eight touchdowns in 2018 alone, compared to the 13 he surrendered from 2012 to 2017.

This is awful, hopefully he has a bounce back year.

I’ll say that by the end of the year they’ll all be saying they wished they were somewhere else

Hope Norman says that. I think they should trade him next March - 2020 - for a mid round pick, draft another 2nd or 3rd round corner and roll with Dunny and Moreau as the starters in 2020.
