X_Factor_40
Martha Ford donates $1 million to Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey relief Quote Martha Ford and her family have donated $1 million to the Red Cross in order to aid with relief efforts for the storm, the team announced Thursday. Quote Relief is in strong demand for a storm that topped 47 inches in rainfall and has claimed more than 30 lives, the New York Times reported. It's one that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has labeled "one of the largest disasters America has ever faced." Quote A deadly storm that wrecks the fourth-most populated city in America has effects on people far away from the region, and members of the Lions felt that this week. Glover Quinn's wife and three children were stuck in a house in the suburbs, armed with enough food and water to get through the spell. Eric Ebron's pregnant fiancé was there, safe but unable to leave the area after the storm hit. Special teams coach Joe Marciano's son lives in the Houston area but was safe from the flood. *JJ Watt has a fundraiser that is live online that has now topped over $15,000,000 in donations. If you feel like contributing, you can do so here. Any thoughts on the events occurring in Houston? Do you have any personal stories? Any thoughts on Martha Ford's contribution? Louis Friend
I actually saw someone blast Martha Ford for "ONLY" donating $1 million dollars while J.J. Watts "gave" $10 million (at the time). $1,000,000 is nothing to scoff at, especially when this is her personal money and not collecting donations. No disrespect to anyone, especially J.J. Watt, for helping out in such a tremendous way. But why are people so quick to judge what other people do philanthropically with their money? I applaud everyone doing what they can, including the Lions players filling up trucks with donations to send down. Every little bit helps. I also applaud the NFL cancelling Houston's final preseason game so that the players could go home to their families and to help out in their community. Some things are bigger than football. diehardlionfan
Those that blast Mrs. Ford should be ashamed.
