Well, I would love if it happened. Maybe it's a situation where Gruden doesn't want to confirm anything publicly so he can take the heat if the play-calling is criticized. Similar to what he did for McVay in his first year IIRC.

I heard on the radio that O’Connell will call the plays but whoever was talking - can't remember who - thinks that Jay will have a lot of input and will take the blame when things don't go well, like he did when McVay was here and calling the plays. turtle28
Jonathan Allen is the leader needed to end drought (via @RShavatt21) https://riggosrag.com/2019/08/01/redskins-dl-jonathan-allen-leader-needed-end-playoff-drought/ When Jonathan Allen speaks, all of those in his presence listen. The former Alabama star, and current defensive team leader, has a voice that is unwavering and to the point. This was on display when discussing the team’s history of losing and lack of playoff appearances. In a press conference on Tuesday at RedskinsTraining Camp in Richmond, Allen sounded none too pleased when discussing the Redskins lack of success in terms of winning and making the playoffs. Per Craig Hoffman of 106.7 The Fan, Allen stated “it sucks. It really ——- sucks.” He also mentioned that “we’re just trying to win,” and “we’re desperate to win”. The third-year player grew up a fan of the team and is well aware of the chaos and dysfunction that has surrounded the organization for years. Allen said he thought the last time the Redskins made the playoffs was when Robert Griffin III was with the team.
Woz
This feels weird to ask, but if Kevin O'Connell gets a head coaching position (and maybe Matt Kavanaugh too, though that's a longer shot), do we need to start talking about the Jay Gruden coaching tree? The Jay Gruden rotting, ugly tree stump that no one can stand watching, but makes good soil for other, successful saplings.

PARROTHEAD
Teams in such bad shape. That people are viewing a team leader thats born, schooled and colleged in Alabama of all places as a good thing.

Ugh, I guess... I think it’s more likely we’re awful this year, Jay is fired and O’Connell is our HC next year.

I was going to make a snarky comment about how when LSU starts playing for National Championships again, we can consider their players ... then I remembered I'm a fan of UVA ... To be fair, Washington has the same number of players from both UVA and LSU on the roster so maybe it's not that far apart ...#triesdesperatelynottolaugh
