2020 NFL Draft Thread

I don’t agree with the notion that a 1st Round Rookie QB must play his first year. That should not be a deciding factor what so ever. I’m not saying Love will be Mahomes but Mahomes is a Top 3 QB in the NFL and definitely was not ready to play his rookie year. You sayin Mahomes isn’t worth a 1st?

Yeah but even the Ravens initially wanted to sit Jackson the entire year. They were adamant that he would sit, and Flacco got injured so that could have legitimately changed their plans. My main point is that in today's NFL most guys are thrown in their rookie year at some point. Whether its by injury or pressure from outside influences. Gruden does have a long leash in terms of his contract length, but he's also gone 2 years of sub .500 play. Even with the ten year deal if he gets to 3 or 4 years without the playoffs/winning record he'll end up on the hot seat. So what are the odds he drafts a guy he legitimately thinks has to sit for a year before starting and then year 4 will be the first starting experience with a guy and wins will be the expected result regardless.

My point is I think there's a better chance Gruden trades up for Tua or Herbert than of him taking someone so raw like Love in this particular draft. Because Love does need to sit a year IMO, and if you aren't going to feel confident in a guys ability to play year one, in a league where it's becoming the new norm for guys to play early and find success I'm not sure that's the right pick/direction.

Now if he thinks Love or Eason (or whoever) is a franchise caliber QB able to play early if the season starts off rocky, the incumbent gets injured, or he can simply beat out whoever else is in the QB room than by all means.

My main point is guys rarely get a full season to sit anymore. Even when that is supposed to be the plan. So I don't think taking a guy in the first that you think NEEDS to sit to find success long term is the wisest move in the current NFL.

I feel you but i also think that Mark really really likes Gruden. I mean he gave him a ten year ten million dollar contract.  Gruden’s seat won’t be warm until year 5.

If Mayock falls in love with Kinlaw and maybe Trevon Diggs or Queen, I could see him waiting til the 3rd for WR. We’ll see. Perhaps even FA.

Yeah but nothing like double dipping. 2 wrs and all defense baby!

LB or DT/DE first. Then BPA defense in third twice and another WR. Mayock did say Carr needed more wr talent around him.

Whoever QB is next needs wrs too

Aj green is hurt too much ... Stop please.

Same injury that never fully healed. Cincy finally let him sit out an entire year because they weren’t in contention. He’s gonna come back stronger than ever this year.

I don't like Trevon Diggs. Not a great man corner and gets very grabby. Prefer Wade and Fulton if we want a corner.

Fulton got destroyed in the National Championship.

Diggs also got destroyed by LSU, but Fulton showed out vs bama. Did a great job on Ruggs and others.

Personally I prefer man corners. Diggs isn't a natural man corner IMO. I understand why the NFL will be fascinated with him and why he'll be overdrafted, but I think he's a shaky prospect for a press/off man scheme.

Jeff Gladney is the CB we want. Only one that has a chance against as Tyreek...  will be great value if we can get into the 2nd round

Fulton ran with Ruggs. You can't draft a CB to go against 1 team.

Really man?  Of course I think Gladney can play against other teams.  Gladney is a really good man corner with elite speed and decent size. Offers great value at where he’s going to be selected and is a really great fit for our scheme.

We can probably get him with a trade back as well.
