Guest
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiVlcjWBj00 Joe Kapp holds almost no passing records in the NFL or the CFL. In fact, as the video will show, his passes looked like ducks after drinking Captain Morgan all night! If you were looking for a classic drop back passer with accuracy and arm strength, Joe Kapp would've been the last quarterback you would want on your team. But, man...he was fun to watch...and he made football fun. Kapp was drafted by the Redskins in the 18th round of the 1959 college draft. However, Joe went to our neighbors to the north and played eventually for the BC Lions...where he led the new team to the Grey Cup in his first year with the franchise. His number 22 jersey was retired by the BC Lions and he is in the CFL Hall of Fame. In an unusual trade between the CFL and the NFL, Joe Kapp came to the Vikings in 1967. With Bud Grant as the new coach and Kapp as the new quarterback replacing the traded Tarkenton, the Vikings became a power house. Kapp led the Vikings to the NFL Championship in 1969. He was the heartbeat of that team. He was the fiery contrast to Grant's icy demeanor. He was a quarterback willing to take incredible punishment from the defense if it got another first down, or brought the Vikings to scoring position. He ran...not to avoid being hit...but he ran through tacklers and over defensive backs. Sometimes they got the better of him...but during his Viking hey day...he usually go the better of the defense. Man...he was fun to watch! Edited May 29, 2019 by Guest
swede700
I didn't get to see him actually play, but man he could certainly throw a punch...probably still can.
