You are confusing “run efficiency” with outrushing your opponent.  There’s a big difference.  Historically, the team that outrushes the other team will win 75% of the time.  You don’t have to be particularly efficient in doing it, you just have to do it.

Let me put it this way... if one team rushes the ball 30x at an average of 3.3 YPC for 100 yards and the other team runs an efficient 10x for 55 yards... the team that ran for 100 yards will win 75% of the time. Facts.

So you think 75-80% of games are blowouts? What NFL do you watch?

really? where did you get that I said 75-80% of games are blowouts.

If a team does get a lead, they certainly can afford to run a more balanced attack vs trailing. the Trailing teams do run less. These are my facts brotha.

Any other debates on this subject, I will defer to @Matts4313

That man enjoys this type of work..

Just a quick FYI... the game that Matt’s tries to use to argue that run game doesn’t matter is SB 25 between the Giants and Bills.  It was the high powered k gun offense vs the giants great defense.  It is well known that Bill Parcells advocated “shortening” the game... eating the clock.  To do that the defense did focus on stopping Kelly from from throwing deep and getting quick scores.  And between the 20s, the giants didn’t care care too much about stopping the run.  They wanted the clock to run.  So the Bills ran for 166 yards on 25 rushing attempts.  According to matts, that’s why the bills lost the game... they ran too much and didn’t pass enough.  That’s a bunch of horse crap.

The giants actually outrushed the Bills in SB 25.  The giants rushed the ball 39 times in SB 25!  The giants outrushed the Bills by gaining 172 rushing yards!  And, why does this matter?  Well, the time of possession was 40:33 minutes to 19:27 minutes in the giants favor.  Oh, and btw, the giants RB was the MVP of SB 25.  So even in the poster child game for “rushing the ball doesn’t matter” the team the rushed the most and for the most yards still won the game.

quick edit... where it it most visible how important rushing the ball was to the giants?  Obviously the TOP was staggeringly in the giants favor.  The giants were 9/16 of third down attempts.  The Bills were 1/8 on third down attempts.  The giants ran the ball 39x and passed the ball 32x.  The Bills ran the ball 25x  and passed the ball 30x.  The team that ran the ball more than passed the ball, the team that dominated TOP, and the team that won the running battle won the game.

They lost the game because Scott Norwood missed the damn FG!

Ladies and gentlemen, when you make it to law school, this will be the example of a strawman.

Slam literally created his own argument and then fought it.

Amazing.
