Interesting move with the Irv Smith selection.

Two different positions — they’ll use Smith as an H-back / move TE, and Rudolph as a Y / inline TE.

They’re running Kubiak’s offense, expect them to use 12 personnel as their base.

Exhibit R for why everyone needs to shut up about cap space mattering. The Vikings are paying a top QB contract AND gave pretty much their entire roster a big long term deal.

Vikings have no less than 14 starters on veteran contracts signed at least through 2020. 11 of them are making $10M AAV or more, Rudolph will be 12th in line at $9M. Plus Trae Waynes is playing his 5th year option for $9.1M.

Good contract for all the teams of young tifht ends, keeping the top value around 9-10 million per year. The top tight ends deserve 14-16 per year in this market, but arent getting close to it.

Bronk probably depressed the market somewhat with his team friendly contracts

On the 4-year, $36M extension the #Vikings & TE Kyle Rudolph agreed to last night that accomplished his ultimate goal of staying in Minnesota: Rudolph gets $1.625M additional this year added to his $7.625M base, per source. $9M fully guaranteed in all. $16.025 in total guarantees.
