Exact reason I didn't being this one up That draft was the first draft I actually paid attention to - Sports Illustrated had a cover story on Marvin "Shade tree" Jones (3rd overall, NYJ) and it had the very first mock I've ever read. The Oilers needed a LT (a recurring theme of teams I follow) and OT Ernest Dye was the player taken in that mock. Right position, but wrong player - the pick was Brad Hopkins, who was a lynchpin for many good Oilers/Titans OLs...
SkippyX
I think I still got my stats from Street & Smith's back then. Edited June 14, 2019 by SkippyX
Heinz D.
Is there a point to all this? Just curious.

The point of people discussing football and remembering similar experiences from the past together? It would fall in the middle range. Its really the whole point of rooting for Sports teams from a community and everything that follows. Some people take it too far into the green at times though. Does this answer your question? Does this answer your question? I gave you a like, and i also have to reply to say that this is probably my favorite answer to this question, ever. And it gets asked a lot around here.

Tag, dodgeball, street football (two hand on concrete, tackle in the grass)?

That has nothing to do with the NFL narrative to be honest. Maybe you guys in the AFC East see it that way, but the Browns were absolutely RAKED THROUGH THE COALS for taking Baker/using analytics and bucking conventional wisdom in passing on Darnold, more of the prototype looking player. They had the option of either guy and took Baker. 21 hours ago, freak_of_nature said: Plus, Baker looked so good in Year One, he's currently untethered to the other 2. That doesn't matter at all TBH. Most tethered QBs have to do with having the OPTION of either guy, like: The Colts taking Peyton over Leaf, Luck over RGIII The Broncos/Colts taking Elway/trading him and Marino falling...therefore Marino was tethered to the other 5 QBs drafted before him in the 1st round The same goes for the 49ers with Smith/Rodgers, the Bears with Trubisky over Mahomes, the Giants taking Jones over Haskins, etc.

candyman93
Baker Mayfield - Sam Darnold I think eventually Josh Rosen - Josh Allen

Ryan has been the better regular season passer and a League MVP but Flacco had that Joe Montana-like 11 TDs and 0 picks to get the Lombardi. Thomas5737
When I think of tethered QBs I think of Dan Marino.
