I was kinda hoping Aguayo might have some type of resurgence with us and live up to a fraction of his potential so we'd look smart getting him but oh well. Not terribly surprised. Hope someone can get something out of him.

And I thought for sure Thursday's game would've got Connor Shaw a spot on the roster.

Not Gentry!!!!!

lol I'm not particularly butthurt about any of our cuts so far but Gentry is a Marcus Monk guy for me. Guy that won't but everyone pretends will.

Just don't cut Braverman. He's a real mans man, the guy who goes out and gets the milk, a real quick guy with sneaky athleticism, first guy in the gym and last guy out. Total gym rat, high iq player, Wes welker amendola Ricky proehl type.

Jaye Howard gone. Is Unrein really better?

I don't like it, because Howard has shown a much higher ceiling...... but... Unrein did play really well in preseason and is healthier at the very least...So I can at least somewhat understand it.

I'm more upset about Gentry, honestly.... Our WR depth is abysmal, particularly on the outside, and we cut arguably the best outside WR we had from camp/Preaseason.  If he doesn't make the PS because another team swipes him, then someone at Halas Hall better get a swift boot in the rear.

I legit have no idea who is going to be our outside WRs right now (it looks like Thompson and White maybe?), or how we're going to avoid teams relentlessly stacking the box and shutting our offense down because we pose no threat downfield.

Gentry was a little overrated. Speed, be that's about it. Very unrefined player at this point in his career.

Now that I think about it, Unrein may play on some ST units...

Add Gentry to the list of receivers who Bears fans took way too hard when he was cut. I swear this fanbase cares more about the WR6 than the WR1.

Too much is being made of the WR depth. Yes, it's a weak spot, but Fox and company hasn't hesitated to take a platoon approach in 2015-16, especially when injuries piled up at the position. We'll see the same this year, as well as more 12 personnel.

It is what it is. A WR6 or waiver claim isn't going to drastically change things.

The thing is our only other outside WRs right now are like.... Kevin White (who Gentry has blatantly outplayed, and is one season away from being the second largest bust in franchise history) , Deonte Thompson (who is more a special teams guy) and Bellamy (who is Thompson except useless as a WR).

Wheaton, Wright are both slot guys.... which should be real useful when we're running double TE sets constantly

Gentry at least has potential to become something, and played well in preseason... It's a big risk letting him go to waivers.

Likewise, with Irving.... McPhee is going to constantly be bordering the PUP list/IR with his knee issues, Houston has been our 2nd best OLB (Floyd being #1) this offseason, and he's getting sent packing with injury designation..... Young is a quality depth, but was it really worth keeping Acho in favor of a kid who was crushing the pass rush productivity numbers as a passrusher in preseason.... particularly when you know McPhee's knees make him a timebomb?  Again, a huge risk letting him hit waivers for little reward....

Going deeper:

We kept 5 TEs (Brown and Braunecker), and a FB (Burton)

Braunecker was significantly more likely to clear waivers and make the PS than Gentry or Irving will be, considering he didn't really have a good preseason.

Not to mention double TE sets replace the slot WR, not an outside WR, which is what Gentry plays and what we're really low on depth wise.

Meanwhile we barely use a fullback ever, to the point where I genuinely don't understand the reason for rostering one.... Use Unrein as a lead blocker if you want a fullback (which he has done before in his career)

One could also easily make the argument that keeping Sanchez is blatantly wasting a roster spot better spent on a guy with future potential.

That's at least 3 roster spots right there that we are blatantly wasting, which could have been used to retain Gentry/Irving without risking the waiver wire.

They need to cut Braverman because he is a guy that doesn't and won't. He hasn't shown anything in practices or games.
