I don't care how little you think of Dorsett, you don't make that kind of trade for a backup QB.  Even if Luck is out for the entire year, take a loss on the year.  Even if you have to make the trade to get a backup QB, do it at the start of preseason, and don't do it with a conference rival that has made a decade out of trading for receivers with potential that never lived up to the potential elsewhere.

Raiders traded Moss for a 4th.
Dolphins traded Welker for a second.
Colts trade Dorsett for a friggin third string QB.

Idiot Colts.

I hate this trade so much because it doesn't hurt the Patriots at all.  Not at all.  They don't even lose a draft pick.  They lose a third string QB and gain a first round talent receiver.

The Colts should be docked their next first round pick for being so stupid.  How can a team that's been a Patriots rival for the better part of 20 years possibly let themselves potentially help the Patriots season like that?

First they were dumb enough to take a receiver in the first round when receiver wasn't going to do anything for a team without a defense or offensive line, next they do this.

I am so angry right now.

And the overreaction of the year goes to ....

People talking a lot about how Dorsett is a bust but his production last year was pretty much right in line with that of a typical #2 WR on a team that likes to spread the ball to its TEs and backs

528 and 2 TDs? Feel like that isnt much as a #2 at all even if others are involved

Dorsett played 72.5% of offensive snaps for the Colts last season (2nd most among their WRs) and was targeted 59 times (33 catches, 528 yards).

To put that in perspective, Chris Hogan played 74.1% of the Pats' offensive snaps last year and was targeted 58 times (38 catches, 680 yards).

Dorsett may not have shown all that much yet as a Colt, but players turn Patriot and suddenly look serviceable and make contributions. I'm not saying he'll blow up, but don't be surprised if you see him make some big plays here and there and have decent season in NE. I trust they see something that can fit into their system. With Edleman done they're prolly just looking for another hidden gem they can coach up and put in the right situations and Dorsett has some potential.

Brissett has looked solid when he has played, they're hoping that's a sign of legitimate upside and that maybe he can produce a bit until Luck comes back. Seems like a trade that makes sense for both teams since Brissett likely wouldn't see the field in NE barring another odd situation where Brady/Garoppolo both go down.

Strictly as a #2 though those numbers arent really on par with most teams.

Marquis Lee

Davante Adams

Michael Thomas

JJ Nelson

Mohammed Sanu

Brandon Lafell

Terrence Williams/Cole Beasley

Emmanuel Sanders

Marvin Jones

Tyreek Hill

Travis Benjamin

Parker/Landry

Diggs/Thielen

Sterling Sheperd

Crabtree

Eli Rogers

Garcon/Desean

All these guys are considered #2s and had better numbers

You missed the 2nd clause. The Colts, like the Pats, had TEs and RBs last year who ate up a large percentage of the team's targets and catches. Different teams obviously prioritize their weapons differently. For a guy who was, for all intents and purposes, their #4 target, his numbers were pretty much the mean. Compare him to guys like Tajae Sharpe, Jermaine Kearse, Victor Cruz and Taylor Gabriel.

Ian Rapoport has just confirmed that Andrew Luck will be taken off the PUP list, so he won't miss as many weeks as first thought.

The Colts have been lying about Luck for months at this point. I won't believe he's playing until he's actually under center on a Sunday.

After everything they've said and done since the surgery, there was no way they were going to tell their fans that he's out for the first six weeks.

Hope Roger's inspecting this :o
