Gerald McCoy feels slighted by Bucs

Recommended Posts

Much like the DJax saga, I m more then ready to close this chapter.  I know there is 2 more games to play, but to tough to be a victim with a 100 million in career earnings.

Wish him well, but he s acting like the ex girlfriend who just won t go away.  Most jobs when your fired it happens on Friday afternoon and you have a box with your personal belongings and escorted by security in the business world.

Man, this is looking more and more like a great decision to cut him everyday...

So is this the arrogant attitude he brought to the organization everyday? Or is he just feeling insecure right about now and this is his way of grandstanding his past achievements?

Hey Gerald, maybe this is what helped get you cut. This is kind of insulting to the franchise and all players that have ever played for the Bucs if you ask me. I think the losing culture (throughout his entire career by the way), helped make him feel superior to the franchise like we were lucky to have him and should be kowtowing to him, regardless of decline in play.

I actually think he's upset about leaving because he was content with where he was at. He's used to the easy going losing culture, where he thinks he's the best player on the team and should just be worshiped by everyone, without the pressure of high expectations to win.

I was around when Sapp wasn t resigned, I know there was no twitter, but there was not near the journalistic outrage.  The difference, GMC was a nice a guy and generally good with the media.  Sapp put it mildy could be a ******.  Coincidence, I think not.

We did the same thing with Brooks.

Lynch, like Sapp, went to the AFCW and continued to play well.

We have a history of not treating our star players well and shipping them off. Some still playing good football.

I just don t think a team moving on from a player without bringing him in and explaining why he isn t in the plans is that unusual.  Plus, with the CBA I m not sure how much a team can speak with a player directly.  I won t argue the team has misjudged and released players early,  just not bringing them and explaining why you are not good enough in an evaluation seems like a waste of time for everyone.

The Tampa media just loves to beat a topic into the ground and it has the perfect former player who is more then happy to play the victim.  A perfect marriage.

mehhh I heard i dunno if it was from that interview he was mad for them giving his # away lmao....    I don't see anything wrong with it.  The number isn't retired and what are they supposed to do say, "No, Suh you can't have your number you have worn your entire career because McCoy used it last season.... ".

Suh wore 90 in Detroit.

Well more insight.  I have no issue with either side.  Organization asking a player to take a pay cut.  Player refuses pay cut.  Organization tries to trade player.  Team finds no takers, ultimately player gets cut.  Player can sign with any team and chooses division rival.  I m good with all of this.

My issue is with player spin screaming of disrespect.  GMC has every opportunity to prove the Bucs wrong, which certainly has happened with other players and make 10 million.

Like he thinks he should be just so praised. He wasn't THAT good, for one thing. Great guy off the field and on the field. I'm all for good sportsmanship and everything. But I don't want my D-lineman saying "sorry I hit you so hard" and helping up the quarterback after a sack (though I'd like to think some of that is being facetious to the league rules).

And he was also hurt a lot at the start of his career if ya'll remember. He was on the verge of being a bust if those injuries lingered, but he stayed healthy for the most part I guess.

Yea I kinda think McCoy and some other people are over-evaluating his worth to the team and/or talent level.  He was a very good player but not a great one IMO.  He is not a once in a decade type talent like Sapp, Lynch, Brooks, Selmon etc...

And yes he was very close to that bust label as he had two bicep tears in back to back season iirc and didn't perform that great even when he was on the field.

Yeah he needs to slow his role... I still got love for him though.
