Mandela effect in the NFL

In case you don't know, the Mandela effect is a collective misremembering something. Common example of this is the amount of people that swear it's the BearenstEin Bears rather than BearenstAin.

Any examples of this in the NFL? I thought for the longest time Neil O'Donnell's last name was O'Donald and that he played for Miami.

Lots of sheep think the Patriots are cheaters and the 49ers championships are cheat-free honorable endeavors.

People think DeflateGate was real and that SpyGate was a big deal.

You are ignorant if you believe in Deflategate. (or willfully delusional, you know... a fanatic)

  • The first rule for it to be real is that the ref was smart enough to remember a bunch of numbers that he did not write down
    • AND
  • stupid enough to not know which gauge he used
  • If both are not true then there was no violation
  • In actual court testimony the NFL admitted that they had zero evidence against Tom Brady
  • The second appeal recognized Goodell's power to suspend anyone for any reason.
    • It was not a validation of the investigation in any way
  • Destroying an old cell phone with pictures and information of the most famous couple in America is not evidence of a crime
    • Unless you are stupid
  • The deflator text message is only evidence if you are a clown
    • If Brady likes the balls at the low legal limit and the 'deflator' found balls at the high legal limit and he DEFLATED them within the allowed range...
      • What could his nickname be?
  • How does almost always playing at 1 PM Eastern New England have a standing conspiracy to intercept footballs from NFL officials in the case that the early game is so compelling that the officials are too distracted to do his job?
  • How does some fat dude pull off 12 deflations in 120 seconds like he was a member of the IMF Ghost Protocol team?

You have to believe all of that crap for Deflategate to be real

Also, here is the Wells Report pretending the needles look the same by spinning the bend in one needle away from the camera and pushing one needle forward on a ruler

Spygate was about someone standing in the wrong place

  • It was also not an enforceable rule in 2006 or 2007
    • It was updated in a memo that the league did not ratify so it was not a real rule
  • Belichick and the Patriots were punished for calling out Goodell as an a-hole
  • See Goodell's power to suspend for any reason at all
    • Destroying tapes that were shown on Fox TV is meaningless to the violation or punishment
  • Google this image:  Jets 2010 Spygate
    • There was no punishment for this

I dont think you understand the premise and multiple things can be true at once.

The NFL could have been stupid for suspending Tom Brady, and the balls could have been deflated.  Spygate could have given the Pats an edge AND other teams may have been guilty of it as well.  Its circumstantial evidence no doubt, but why did the NFL destroy all the tapes without any ever being seen by the public?  Why did Tom Brady destroy a cell phone when he was asked to give it to investigators.  The reason the NFL suspended Brady was bc of the APPEARANCE of a cover up, whether there was anything to cover up or not, whether it had any outcome on the game are matters up for debate, but after spygate, any appearance of a cover up is damning for the NFL.  This was al labout appearing to do something.  TB12 appeared to be covering something up, and the NFL appeared to punish him for it.

You nailed the holy grail of SpyGate Mandella Effect

The real question for the tin foil hat crowd is this.

  • Can you enlighten us with your conspiracy theories as to what was on those tapes that had to be hidden from the public?
    • Besides closeups of attractive females who could then sue the league if these tapes got out.

As for the appearance of a cover up in Deflategate?

  • They had the phones from the guy who had the footballs and his buddy that called him the deflator
  • Did they need texts to his sisters for some reason/ His mom and dad? Gisele?
  • Brett Favre actually used his phone in a crime with the results on Deadspin and the NFL punished him 50k and no suspension for not handing the phone over.
  • How do we go from 50k for someone proven guilty (the photos)  to 4 games for a clearly not guilty one?

There were 2 obvious cover ups in Deflategate.

1st was the smear campaign, disinformation, and lies in the Wells Report.

2nd was the NFL gathering a full year of pressure data on footballs and then burying the data

  • Would they bury it if it proved they were right?

There are some real gems from the coverage of DeflateGate.

I suggest you watch the 60 minutes sports video on YouTube and the video from the guy mentioned in the NYTimes article above.

Also no one remembers that the first big Tuck Rule call went against the Patriots in a game vs the Jets in the regular season.

  • Its as if the refs were just enforcing a dumb rule because it was a rule regardless of the teams

Could also then say that "Brady won 6 Superbowls all by himself" is by far the biggest myth in the NFL. Or at least the biggest sub category of the biggest myth which is -quarterback uber alles.

Which is pretty much the dominant narrative in American sports media, yet totally throws under the bus the sacrifices, efforts and talents of hundreds of players over the last 2 decades, who consistently contributed to make the Pats a good all around team that allowed a great quarterback like Brady to display his skills year in year out in playoff games almost always at home.

I think most Americans have been indoctrinated to believing that if Brady had been playing on teams like the Bills, Raiders or Browns they would also have 6 Superbowl titles.

Again you missed my whole point.  It's all about appearances.  It's about convincing the general public that the integrity of the game is the most important thing to the league.  The league dropped the ball with spygate, big time.  What's actually on the tapes is irrelevant.  For all we know it could be anything from proof of a conspiracy against the Kennedys to Steven Belichicks 5th bday party, we have no idea and that's the point.  Whether you like it.or not the media narrative has been that the NFL destroyed those tapes to hide how bad the Pats cheating was (remember one big rumor that the Rams players themselves believe is that the final walkthrough before the SB was on those tapes).  That narrative has persisted for nearly 20 years.  Now we had text messages from a guy calling himself the deflator, we have TB12 destroying his cellphone.  It's about appearances, the same reason that Zeke was suspended 6 games, that Kareem Hunt is missing 10, that Reuben Foster was placed on the exempt list...twice.  it's about appearances and public perception, and like it or not, that's as valid reason as any for suspension.

That the Browns fired Bill Belichick. This is a completely false narrative. The Browns moved out of Cleveland after the 1995 season and Art Modell and the Baltimore "Browns" (sued by the city and won thankfully) (February 15, 1996).

https://923thefan.radio.com/articles/cleveland-browns-did-not-fire-bill-belichick

Quote

Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Friday marked the anniversary of one of the most inaccurately reported fact in NFL history.

The Cleveland Browns fired Bill Belichick on Feb. 15, 1996.

It makes for a good story, if only it were true.

Both ESPN and Yahoo!Sports commemorated the 23rd anniversary of Belichick’s firing, inaccurately Friday.

There are a million things the Browns can be blamed and laughed at for – starting with their record since returning to the NFL in 1999 or being the second 0-16 team in league history – but this is not one of them.

The timeline of Belichick’s firing is as follows.

On Feb. 9, 1996, NFL owners approved Art Modell’s request to move his franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore, but the Browns name, colors, records and history would remain behind for a new Browns franchise to assume in 1999 either as an expansion club or relocated team.

Upon that announcement, Modell’s team ceased being the Cleveland Browns.

Modell announced the move on Nov. 6, 1995 at a press conference in Baltimore, Maryland where he uttered the infamous words, “I had no other choice,” setting off protests followed by lawsuits from the city of Cleveland and Browns fans to block the move and retain the team.

After three months of negotiations, a compromise was reached.

The NFL placed the Browns into a trust, suspending operation of the franchise for three years while a new stadium was built on the site of Cleveland Municipal Stadium, paving the way for Modell to name his Baltimore team the Ravens following a fan contest.

Belichick was fired six days later by Modell, who has the distinction of firing two of the greatest coaches in NFL history in Paul Brown and Belichick.

So, for the millionth time, the Cleveland Browns didn’t fire Belichick. Modell did.

Maybe next year they’ll finally get the story straight.

This has been pushed by every talking head, ESPN, Fox (Colin Cowherd), etc. as a false narrative to just jump on the Browns incompetence. They've been incompetent enough on their own, so lies don't need to be added to it.
