Rules:

Day Phase Rules:

 1. To vote for someone, type their name in bold. Color must be black, and in, at least, a normal font size. You may vote for a no lynch. If “no lynch” has a majority, there will be no lynch.
 2. Day Phases will last 24 or 48 hours, depending on my schedule. Deadline should always be around 9 PM ET (8PM CT).
 3. Lynches will not automatically occur prior to the deadline.
 4. If there is a tie between players at the end of the deadline, there will be a 15-minute overtime period. In this overtime period, any player who was voting for a player not in the majority may re-cast their vote to a player in the majority (players whose vote is already for one of those players cannot change their vote). If, after 15 minutes, there is still a tie, a no lynch occurs.
 5. Due to there being periods of the day where I cannot actively monitor the site, if anyone can keep a vote count for me if I haven’t posted one in awhile, I will love you forever.
 6. You must vote during each day phase. Failure to do this twice in a row will result in your death and/or being replaced if there’s a willing standin.

Night Phase Rules:

 1. After night is called, players will have 30 minutes to send in moves if they haven’t already, then they are locked. There is no penalty for sending in night moves during the day phase, in fact, you should send them in early if possible.
 2. You are allowed to post during the night, but do not post any results from that night’s actions before the night has ended.
 3. Night actions and items do have a certain priority assigned, but the details of this will not be revealed during the course of play.

General Rules:

 1. You may edit posts you made in the last 5 minutes to fix typos or to add something but do not edit any post but your latest post, and do not add or remove a vote. If you abuse this, I will punish your team at my discretion.
 2. Do not communicate or discuss this game outside of this thread without explicit permission.
 3. Upon your death, you are allowed one post. This post cannot contain anything game related.
 4. You are allowed to claim your name and/or power but copy/pasting the contents of your PM is not allowed. You may summarize it in your own words.
 5. Please put a decent effort into remaining active (posting at least three times per day phase) throughout the game.
 6. Have fun!

Setup Details:

 1. When someone dies, their role PM will be revealed to everyone! Thus, while this is a closed role setup, a player’s death will still provide some clarity.
 2. Not everyone will be a named character; there are generic crewman roles, of a few types.
 3. Everyone will have some sort of unique power.
 4. Day actions are extremely rare due to me not being able to monitor the site at certain hours.
 5. In this game, in addition to role abilities, there is also an item mechanic. You may use a role ability and an item in the same night, but only one of each. Both item uses and abilities count as visits.
 6. Scum players will receive details to help them set up a fake claim including but not limited to the Federation’s win condition and a sample generic crewman role PM.
 7. This is my first attempt at this. Go easy on me if the balance isn’t quite right!
 8. Mistakes/Erratas: If I as host make a mistake in a night message or role description, I will attempt to inform that party as soon as I realize a mistake was made. If I made a mistake in a death, deaths are final, and I'm deeply sorry for that! But undoing a death is something I can't do because it could completely change the dynamic of the game.

Story:

NOTE: This story takes place in somewhat of a “floating timeline”. While in my mind, it’s taking place in one of the later seasons of the show, I did not attempt to limit myself by making sure it was consistent with the canon of the actual show. The game may make reference to events from the show that can be assumed to be in the past. But a character may be alive or still on the Enterprise even if they would’ve died or departed before the referenced events. In short, this game certainly has a few contradictions to the timeline, and thus, you shouldn’t use that info to try to prove something during the game. In general, knowledge about the show is not required to play the game. Flavor for your role will be provided with each Role PM so you’ll at least have some clue what is going on.

"Captain's Log, Star Date 45379.1: We've received a distress call from a Ferengi ship retreating from a Borg Sphere. As we're the only nearby ship in the area, we've changed course to intercept it."

Just then, Captain Picard was interrupted by Data’s voice cutting through the intercom, “Captain, we’ve dropped out of warp and we’re ready to engage the enemy.”

Picard rushed out of his office and looked over to the viewscreen. “It looks heavily damaged, how unusual,” Picard uttered.

“Your orders, sir?” asked Mr. Worf.

“Someone has clearly given this Borg Sphere a run for its money, but we must finish the job,” replied the Captain, sitting in his chair.

The Sphere changed its course away from the damaged Ferengi cruiser, recognizing larger prey in the Enterprise.

“Mr. Worf…” uttered Commander Riker, “Fire!”

On his command, the Enterprise let loose an intense barrage of phaser fire and torpedoes; the Borg Sphere also did, in kind. “We’re hit! Shields down to 30%!” yelled Geordi over the intercom from the engine room.

Fortunately, the Sphere was even worse off. In an incredible explosion of bright green light, the Sphere was blown apart.

“Scan for survivors, we must make sure they’ve been completely eradicated,” ordered the Captain, sighing in relief.

His relief was short-lived, however.

“Captain, a ship is decloaking off the port bow!” exclaimed an officer wearing a red shirt, “They’re opening fire!” The ship rumbled with its remaining shields being completely deactivated. The console exploded, killing the officer.

“Sir, intruders detected. We’re being boarded! On both decks 3 and 5!” cried Worf.

“Mr. Worf, take your team down to Deck 3. I’ll head towards Deck 5!” ordered Riker.

The two entered the lift and it whirled away.

But then, something strange happened. “We’re receiving a lot of casualties down here, Captain,” reported Doctor Beverly Crusher.

“Wait, w..who is this?” asked Picard.

“Huh? I’m Beverly… Beverly Crusher. Wait, who is it that I’m talking to?”

“Beverly?” Picard thought. This voice sounded completely alien to him - he had never heard it before. It was certainly not Beverly Crusher’s. Picard then looked around the room. None of the other people on the Deck looked familiar to him - they all looked like complete strangers. “Now just what is going on here?”

Elsewhere, in Engineering, Geordi was looking over various sensors when he noticed something alarming. He hastily informed the bridge, “Sir, I’m receiving some strange combinations of radiation coming from somewhere on board the ship. It’s consistent with a theoretical technology I heard of in the Academy that would scramble a humanoid’s recollection abilities so that they could not distinguish or recognize anyone. It makes everyone’s face and voice look completely foreign to you!”

Picard did not know the voice of the man speaking to him but it made a lot of sense, it accounted for everything that had been going on. “Thank you. We will have to enact another system of identification.”

Just then, main power went offline, the intercoms dead... whoever boarded the ship interrupted all ship functions. While backup power quickly restored minimal lighting and life support, everyone on the Enterprise was stuck in a state of confusion, not being able to recognize anyone else while unknown intruders were aboard, trying to take control of the ship.

Will the crew of the Enterprise be able to identify and eliminate the intruders from the ship?

Welcome to Star Trek: The Next Generation Mafia!

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

You are Wesley Crusher, the highly gifted son of Beverly Crusher. Despite being a child, your intelligence and other natural gifts has helped the Enterprise tremendously. Eventually you were able to apply for the academy and earn the rank of Ensign. You are starting to wonder if you really want to follow down your father's path, however.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, target two other players and receive a report on whether or not those players share the same alignment. You cannot target a player with this ability two nights in a row.
 • The first time someone quotes you and says, "Shut up, Wesley!" (grammar need not be exact), you cannot post or vote for the rest of the day, on pain of modkill.
 • Despite being a named character, you are considered a generic crewman for any effects determined by that.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • None!

@Glen was:

Tactical Officer

Crewman, Romulan/Human

You are a half-Romulan tactical officer serving aboard the Enterprise. You carry your father's disruptor with you even to this day, although you never met him. Your heritage does make you ideal for reconnaissance, however.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, can target a player and learn all players who visited that player.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Disruptor: Kills a target player. Can only be used once.

You are Reginald Barclay, one of the ship's best engineers. Troubled with multiple mental issues, you've earned friends on the Enterprise who have helped you to become productive. However, with the current crisis, can you keep it together to help save the ship?\

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, must visit a target player. If no player is specified, it is a random player. Once a player is targeted, they cannot be targeted again this game (if all living players were already visited, Reginald doesn't visit). There's a 25% chance to accidentally kill the targeted player, 25% chance to roleblock them, 25% chance to receive a report on that player's race, and a 25% chance for that player to receive a random item (phaser, disruptor, tricorder, PADD, energy vest, or bat'leth).
 • If you are currently a member of an external chat with Deanna Troi, your night action is stabilized. On Nights 1, 5, 9, etc the first effect will always occur. On Nights 2, 6, 10, etc the second effect will always occur. On Nights 3, 7, 11, etc the third effect will always occur. On Nights 4, 8, 12, etc the fourth effect will always occur.
 • Despite being a named character, you are considered a generic crewman for any effects determined by that.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

You are B'Etor, sister of Duras, who was slain by Worf. You joined the Romulans with your sister Lursa to seek revenge on him, and the Enterprise. You are the more seductive of the Duras sisters.

You are aligned with the House of Duras: The House of Duras must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, can target a player to roleblock them. You cannot target the same player two nights in a row with this ability. The second time you visit a player, their Role Name will be revealed to you.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Disruptor (faction): Only one member of the faction can use a factional item each night, but factional weapons are not expended on use. Kills a target player.

You are Geordi La Forge, the Enterprise's genius Chief Engineer. Using your ingenuity and passion, you've proven an extremely capable mind throughout the Enterprise's adventures. The visor you wear allows you to see things others can't.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, can target one player and roleblock them. You cannot target the same player two nights in a row with this ability.
 • Twice per game, at night, instead of roleblocking, you can reroute target player's actions (both their role ability and an item they're using) to another target player. If that player's role ability targets multiple players, you only reroute only the first target.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

You are Toreth, commander in the Romulan military. You are famous for your excellent tactical mind, defeating a Klingon flagship despite faulty intelligence. You, of course, later subsequently executed your intelligence officer.

You are aligned with the Romulan Star Empire: The Romulan Star Empire must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, you may target a single ally (other than yourself) and a single enemy. You may choose to do both, just one, or neither of these actions each night.
 • Targeted ally will appear Federation-aligned to all reports that night and appear to have no items. Additionally, you may specify a Role Name and Race for that player to appear as in reports that night.
 • Targeted enemy will be framed as a Klingon or Romulan (your choice) by planting an item in that player's quarters. If that player does not perform an action that night, the item will be discovered and they will be able to keep the item (they'll receive it as if it was a gift and the frame will still work). Else, you recover the planted item at the end of the night.
 • Framing the target as Klingon will plant a bat'leth in the target's quarters. Additionally, reports on that player that night will reveal that player as a House of Duras aligned Klingon who visited the player targeted by the House of Duras' factional kill that night (if there was one).
 • Framing the target as Romulan will plant a one-use disrupter in the target's quarters. Additionally, reports on that player that night will reveal that player as a Romulan Star Empire aligned Romulan who visited the player targeted by the Romulan Star Empire's factional kill that night (if there was one).

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Disruptor (faction): Only one member of the faction can use a factional item each night, but factional weapons are not expended on use. Kills a target player.

You are Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the Enterprise. Your experience as a leader has guided the Enterprise to greatness throughout its adventures. You're serious and idealistic, upholding the Prime Directive even when it was most difficult.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • If killed, all Federation characters are roleblocked the following night. For that reason, keeping your identity a secret is extra important.
 • Once per night, can visit a target player. If that player is Federation-aligned, they will be revealed your identity. You will not know if they were Federation or not, though.
 • Once per game, instead of revealing yourself to a player at night, you can target a player, specifying an assertion in a post of that player, and receive a report about whether that player likely believes what they said was true.
 • Once per game, can override a lynch to another player. Do this via PM before the day is actually hammered.

STARTING ITEMS:

(You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • PADD: May write a message in it, or read it. Writing in the pad always appends to what is already written. When the player holding the PADD dies, the contents of the data pad is revealed to all living players.

You are now Locutus of Borg. Resistance is futile.

You are aligned with the Borg Collective: The Borg must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Locutus of Borg can recruit any player using the nanobots item, even players that would normally be immune. However, after recruiting someone who would normally be unrecruitable, Loctus cannot use the nanobots item the following night.
 • If killed, all Federation characters are roleblocked the following night.

STARTING ITEMS:

(You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Nanobots (faction): Only one member of the faction can use a factional item each night, but factional items are not expended on use. Can attempt to convert a player into a Borg Drone. Conversion will only work on crewmen characters (Federation-aligned players who are not a member of the command staff), scum/third party characters, or Jean-Luc Picard. Only one scum character per faction can be recruited. If Jean-Luc Picard is recruited, he will be transformed into Locutus of Borg. If the conversion fails due to attempting it against an ineligible target, the user of this item's alignment is revealed to the target.

@Counselor was:

DaiMon Lurin

You are Lurin, a Ferengi DaiMon who was fleeing the Borg Sphere at the time of its destruction. With your vessel severely damaged, you stowed aboard the Enterprise via an escape hatch, just before the mystery attackers decloaked. You have no idea what's going on, but you feel the potential for profit in your lobes...

You are aligned with the Ferengi Alliance: Survive until the game's end. Can joint-win with any other faction. By stealing three PADDs, you gain enough info to repair your ship and make a profit selling Federation information, and may leave early (securing a win). Doing so does not end the game, but it does remove your character.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, can steal a random item that player is holding (if a player is using an item that night, it will always be that item instead of it being random). This effect occurs before most other night actions, and thus, negates the target's attempted use of the item that night. Factional items are converted to their generic version, and the target receives another at the end of the next night, and that factional item cannot be stolen again from that player.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Energy Vest: Protects a player from a single attack. Does not protect the wearer from bat'leth attacks or being lynched. When used, if you have another Energy Vest in your inventory, one is randomly put on.

You are now a Borg Drone. As a newly assimilated member of the collective, your individuality has melted away as the voices of a chorus of Borg flood your mind.

You are aligned with the Borg Collective: The Borg must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per day phase, a Borg Drone must quote a post from another member of the Borg on that same day (unless you are the only Borg player remaining). Failure to do this will result in modkill.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

You are Data, a cyborg created by the genius inventor Noonian Soong. You strive to be as human as possible, despite far exceeding them in most functions. You are an invaluable member to the crew. You don't quite understand human emotions, however.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • On odd nights, can target a player to receive a report on that player's night action (but not their alignment ). If the target has multiple abilities, you will only receive the first, but visiting them again will reveal the second, and so forth.
 • Twice per game, at night, instead of investigating a player, can erect a force field around a target player. That player is roleblocked, and any other actions targeting that player will fail.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Tricorder: To use, target other 3 other players. 2 other targets are chosen randomly (you are told who the 2 are). You receive a report containing a list of distinct alignments among the five players. Has 2 charges. Unlike other items, you cannot use a tricorder on the same night you use a night ability. When the number of other players in the game is 5 or less, the tricorder targets all other players.

You are William Riker, second in command of the Enterprise under your mentor and friend, Jean-Luc Picard. You're charming, inventive, and adventurous. You're also still in love with your former girlfriend Deanna Troi, a half-Betazoid who serves as Ship Counselor. You still have a telepathic link to her.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Starts game in a Chat with Deanna Troi. Join this chat as Will Riker.
 • Four times per game, at night, can target a player to receive one of the following reports: a) a report on their alignment, b) a report on what items they have in their inventory, c) a report on which players visited that player at night and which players that player visited, or d) a report on that player's race. You can only receive one report of each type per game.
 • Once per night, if Riker decides not to investigate, can set a security barrier protecting one player. All non-killing actions made against that player will fail. If targeted with a killing action, Riker dies in their place, but also takes down the attacker with him. You cannot enact a security barrier around a person you enacted one around the night before.

STARTING ITEMS:

(You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Phaser: Starts with 2 charges. Can be used on target player to 'stun' (roleblock and removes target's ability to vote the next day), which takes 1 charge or kill which takes 2.

You are the Borg Queen. Or rather, a Borg Queen. You were assimilated into the collective when you were a child, and the collective has been your home through your entire life. You were chosen internally to become a Borg Queen. You survived the destruction of your Sphere, barely, and made it aboard the Enterprise.

You are aligned with the Borg Collective: The Borg must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, may target a player and receive a report on whether that player can be converted via nanobots.
 • Until the Borg Queen successfully converts a player, she is not revealed to the target when attempting to convert, even if that target cannot be converted.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

You are Worf, a Klingon who joined Star Fleet. You were raised by human parents, after your real parents were presumed killed at the Battle of Kitomer. While constantly being torn between being a Klingon and being a Star Fleet officer, you've always persevered due to your honorable moral code.

You are aligned with the Federation: Eliminate all threats to the Federation.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Thrice per game, at night, can give a phaser to another target player.
 • On even nights, instead of giving someone a Phaser, can get a report on whether target player's alignment is Federation, or not.

STARTING ITEMS:

You may use one item at night in addition to one of your role’s night actions.)

 • Bat’leth: Can be used on target player to disarm (target loses all items in inventory until the end of the next night) or kill. If being used to kill, there is a 50% chance the bat'leth is broken during the attack. If attempting to kill someone who is holding a weapon, the kill fails and the attacker is revealed to the target. The bat'leth's kill can bypass energy vests.
 • Phaser: Starts with 2 charges. Can be used on target player to 'stun' (roleblock and removes target's ability to vote the next day), which takes 1 charge or kill which takes 2.

 • Once per night, instead of protecting a player from attacks, can target another player. That player is protected from being lynched the next day.
 • HIDDEN ABILITY (activated Night 1), Motherly Rage: If you target a player with either of your Role's abilities, and that player was the one responsible for Wesley Crusher's death, your action will instead kill that player rather than protect.

You are aligned with the House of Duras: The House of Duras must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Twice per game, at night, you may plant a bomb outside target player's quarters. If another player visits targeted player during the night (except if that visit was part of a multiple-target action, like the Tricorder), the targeted player and all players who visited that player during that night will die (except yourself and visitors using a multiple-target action). You cannot use this ability if you used it the night before, nor can you use it the first night of the game.

You are aligned with the House of Duras: The House of Duras must outnumber all other living players.

ROLE POWERS:

 • Once per night, may give target player a sabotaged item from your inventory. They will not be informed of its sabotaged status nor will investigations reveal that fact.
 • Sabotaged phasers overload, stunning (roleblock and removal of vote the next day) the user if set to stun and killing them if set to kill. Disrupters also overload rather than fire, killing the user. Sabotaged energy shields don't protect (usable energy shields in that player's inventory still work however). Sabotaged bat'leths break on use and reveal to the target the attacker, always. Sabotaged tricorders always report Federation and a random scum alignment when used.
 • Once per night, instead of handing out an item, you may instead sabotage a random existing random non-factional item that target player is holding. If that player is not holding any noin-factional items, they will be informed that you were rummaging around their stuff!

I put you down for now.

If people are really so mad at you that there's a sizable amount of people who say they will join if and only if you aren't in the game, i'll accept your offer to spectate. But I'd like to hope that most of us can just get along.
