TENINCH
Do you guys expect to see Adrian Peterson in the NFL HOF? He's currently number 8 on the all time list 13,318 yards. He has had some off the field stuff though that isn't very pretty. He's also fumbled the ball in big moments during the playoffs so he doesn't have the post season accolades. SemperFeist
My personal opinion about him, as a player and person, aside, yes I expect him to be in the Hall of Fame. I’d guess that he’ll be a 2nd ballot guy.

Guest
Of course he will be in HOF.
vikingsrule
Should be first ballot. I don't think the hall of fame will care much that the guy is an idiot. He was easily the best RB since Tomlinson and really the only relevant part of the Vikes offense minus the Favre year. There's absolutely no question that he'll be in the HOF. And like @vikingsrule states, it should be 1st ballot. But, he'll get in some time in the first 3 years of eligibility regardless. He has no real peer in his class in his generation of backs. The closest is Gore, and he's only ahead of AD in yards because of his longevity (and because he didn't miss virtually 2 full seasons like AD). If Adrian hadn't missed those 2 seasons, he'd probably be in 3rd place right now with only Payton and Smith ahead of him. Either way, if he has a healthy season, he has a decent shot to get into 5th place by the end of this season. VikeManDan
I really wish we could've seen how far he could've climbed on the All-Time list. As @swede700 states with a healthy season he could get to #5 All-Time. 8. Adrian Peterson - 13,318 7. Jerome Bettis - 13,662 (344 yards) 6. LaDainian Tomlinson - 13,684 (366 yards) 5. Curtis Martin - 14,101 (783 yards) 4. Frank Gore - 14,748 (1,430 yards and still active) Agreed that he should be a first-ballot guy. Looking at the top 10 he's played the 2nd fewest games to get there, only Dickerson played fewer and sits at #9. Sure was fun to watch AD run. wcblack34
Peterson is a first ballot hall-of-famer. It’s not a stretch to say that there was a stretch of maybe 7-8 years where he was the best player in the league not named Brady or Manning. He imposed his will on other teams in a way that no other running back of his era did. There’s a case to be made that he was the most physically gifted player to play the position. There really wasn’t anything quite like watching him break loose on a long run The off-field stuff won’t deter enough voters, in my opinion. swede700
The conversation around him at the HOF meeting should be a little longer though than the one for Favre (which I think was about 4 seconds).

Only because they need to make sure they're not talking about Adrian N. Peterson formerly of the Chicago Bears.
SemperFeist
Peterson was a great closer when the team had a lead. But he was not a guy you could rely on to help get a lead late in games.

A guy like Tomlinson could stay on the field and block and be schemed as a receiver. Peterson certainly didn't add much value there, which forced the Vikings hand.

It’s too bad Peterson didn’t add value in that area. Or a guy who helped on 3rd down. With the Vikings, Peterson scored four 4th quarter touchdowns that gave the Vikings the lead. french t0ast
He had the most rushing yards in a game ever and had a 2000 yard season- along with the rest of his impressive career, he is no doubt a first ballot HOFer
