Honestly, we take 2 of 3 from the Cardinals here and we'd have home field in the WC game pretty much locked up. Time to empty the bullpen. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We still have to play 3 games in Pittsburgh and that team has given us fits all season.

BrettFavre004
Quote If we look at position players with less than 100 plate appearances in a single season, Keon Broxton's 1.6 WAR is tied for the second highest EVER, behind only Minnesota's Steve Lombardozzi in 1985 (1.7). Herbie_Hancock
Why are we doing this? Dont we want to wrap up the home game for wc?

Anderson has been bad and we have 15 pitchers. Worked so far we got a free lefty lefty matchup and got Carpenter out with it.
ramssuperbowl99
Remember when I was saying Freddy Peralta might be groomed for a Josh Hader role? Yeah.
ramssuperbowl99
Because Brewer twitter is melting down and apparently no one can answer this, here's why you use Jennings to open the game, then still be willing to have Peralta face Carpenter. You have 4 lefthanders - Jennings, Cedeno, Hader, Gonzalez. Gonzalez is starting tomorrow, and Carpenter is leading off. Carpenter is guaranteed 4 ABs and is a good bet to get 5. You cannot get a L-L matchup every time. You want Peralta to go as long as possible in this game, facing Carpenter as few times as humanly possible. For the sake of the argument, let's say the only AB to Carpenter that you're willing to go R-L is with Peralta. If you start Peralta, he faces Carpenter immediately to lead the game off, then faces him a second time as the 10th batter. If you open with Jennings, then go to Peralta, he goes 8 batters, then Carpenter, then another 8 batters. That gives him 17 batters before he faces Carpenter a second time. The extra 7 batters are a big deal in the scope of needing 27 outs. The is better or the same in basically every situation. In a blowout either way, you haven't committed to burning the bullpen before you have to. In a close game, you have a bit more leeway to decide when to pull your starter, and a few more options in terms of who you can bring in since you'll have more righty-righty matchups whenever you choose to yank him. Someone please tell Tom Haudricourt. Edited September 25, 2018 by ramssuperbowl99
ramssuperbowl99
Jesus ******* Christ Eddie Sedar. Cardinals did us a huge favor Aguilar was a dead man at home plate. 3-1. Hader-Soria-Cedeno for Carpenter-Jeffress. Let's go boys.
