If only we could find just one more consistent bat or Hiura would get his swing back.... I don't know how active the Brewers can even be at the deadline but this team could win it all with just a little more consistent hitting.

Doubt we see either in the rotation this year pending injuries but I'd expect both Ashby and Small to pick up BP roles 2nd half of the season and then transition to the rotation next year.

Aaron Ashby (AAA)
6 starts, 27.2 IP, 12.69 K/9, 2.93 ERA, 3.46 FIP, 3.24 xFIP, 63.8% GB%, 0.65 HR/9, .254 BABIP

The two things he needs to work on are walks (5.53 BB/9) and HR/FB rate (18.2%). His strand rate has never really been great either but it's up to 74.5% this year from the mid-60s in years prior.

Ethan Small (AA)
6 starts, 27.2 IP, 14.96 K/9, 2.60 ERA, 2.83 FIP, 3.41 xFIP, 79.8% LOB%, 0.33 HR/9

His walk rate is also pretty damn high (6.18 BB/9) and his BABIP is stupid high (.362) but he's not giving up a lot of contact since his overall BAA is .191 even with the high BABIP.

2 hits in Coors. Two.

I know I'm a broken record but, at some point, the franchise has to hold Haines accountable. People wanna say it's the players but just look at Billy McKinney this year.

Billy McKinney w/Brewers: 100 PA, .207/.260/.359, 66 wRC+
Billy McKinney w/Mets: 56 PA, .269/.356/.635, 170 wRC+

That'll obviously change a bit after tonight but it's just an example. Haines just doesn't have these guys prepared. How often do we take advantage of mistake pitches? Marquez threw a TON of meat tonight and we either missed it completely, fouled it off, or pounded it into the dirt. It's an organizational problem and it starts with whatever the hell Haines has them doing.

Anyone concerned about the spider tack crackdown?  Burnes has great spin rate - I have to think he was using if a majority of players were.

I had to laugh when the Umps checked Sogard's glove after he finished in the 8th after the Crew's batting explosion last night!   lol
