You guys got an incredible kick returner with Spencer.  He is electric on punt returns.  Makes things happen

And while it was the CFL he has been doing it for a few years professionally.   So less likely to pull an Isiah McKenzie and pull off a rookie year disaster like 2017 was.  Plus he’s not a total zero as a WR.   His size makes him as likely a gadget guy / speed (although he’s more burst / elusiveness he still has wheels to make D’s respect it) player.   But we could definitely use that skill set in our WR corps.   And most importantly - it didn’t cost anything (looking at that 2017 draft with Day 2 & 3 picks for the sake profile SMH).  Looking forward to seeing him play.

Big plus that he’s cost controlled for 4 years.  Those are the types of acquisitions that makes a team accelerate into contention sooner.  Love going after the early service time guys.  You only need to hit on 1/3 of them to have a massive future impact.

Interesting that they swap out a tackle for a center.

It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. With Leary's injury history and McGoverns snapping concerns our IOL depth was really weak with only Schlottman as G/C. We needed another one.

If Leary’s 2019 contract wasn’t guaranteed for injury he would have been iffy to bring back at that salary & his age / health.   The likelihood he breaks down again this year is sky high.   Agree we need 2 interior capable guys ready and even better if they both can be C given McGovern’s struggles.

I'm fine with it, but ideally this is why I keep 9 on a roster. 2 interior guys who can play G or C and 2 tackles (one of whom should be able to play inside if needed) off the bench.

Then again, given our OL depth, they probably weren't too worried about losing any of these guys. I see the Saints just poached Leglue, that's kind of disappointing.

Also, Titans fans seem to really like Levin, which is more than we can say about any of the 2nd unit guys we've had in a long time.

Outside of Schlottman and Wilkinson our backups haven't shown much at all.

Checked out Levin a bit. LT and LG in college, three year starter, good size , decent measureables, plays with a mean streak. He was on the 46 every game last year and started 1 at LG.

That gives us Schlottman C/G, Wilkinson G/T and Levin G/T, with all but Schlottman having at least 1 NFL start. Curious to see how the final depth chart looks.

Pretty excited about picking up a competent returner. It’s been a while

When Flacco played his best ball he had a good one in Jacoby Jones. A guy you have to flip the field is pretty valuable to winning close games Trindon Holiday another very good addition to our team when it was in Championship mode.

I get the opposing alternative this guys 27 might not be in the long term plans. He might add 2 wins to the win total and hurt our longterm outlook draft wise if there isn't enough depth or talent.

The facts are finding a good returner has been "as challenging, " as replacing the qb position.

No reason it should have been an issue for so long. It really shouldn't be hard to find fast guys with reliable hands. It's crazy that we've wasted so much time on the Jordan Norwoods and River Cracrafts of the world.
