TheKillerNacho
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/07/23/texans-sign-bryan-anger/ Anger is a former 3rd round pick by the Jaguars, who passed up on Russel Wilson to select him. He spent last season with the Bucs. He will compete with incumbant punter, Trevor Daniel, who is entering his sophomore season.

Banger will always live in draft infamy though

sryan66611
He was pretty good for like two years when he first signed for the Bucs and then last year he was pretty bad for the most part.
ET80
'chip, baby. But in all seriousness, he might be a camp body at most. Trevor Daniel was actually very good last season, did a great job of replacing Shane Lechler. It COULD turn into a competition, but Daniel has the inside track at this point, IMO. In my experience, teams don't usually bring in competition at the punter position unless they're pretty confident that the signing player has a good chance to land the job. Even with 90 roster spots during TC, teams rarely want to spend more than one of those spots on a punter if they can help it.
SteelKing728
The Jaguars passed on Wilson because they still had Gabbert, right?

True, yes, the Jags felt comfortable (apparently) riding the passing wizardry of Blaine Gabbert, at the time - and who can blame them? (Sexy photo of Blaine Gabbert appearing in the ballet, The Tooth Fairy. ) BUT- credit where credit is due!- they also, with admirable foresight, had a Five-Year Plan is place, and had already identified Blake "Wonky Mechanics" Bortles as their QB of the future, two years forward! Only the canniest of GM's have the acumen to plan several years ahead of time for what they expect their team to look like! Besides: I seem to recall a couple of the Jags fanboys defending the selection of a PUNTER in Round 3 (over, goodness, Russell Wilson!) as a clever maneuver, because of the anticipated benefits of Good Field Position, Vastly-Improved Special Team Stats, Greater Locker-Room Harmony, and quamma quamma quamma. God be with Ye, Bryan Anger, and thanks for all the thrilling punts o'er the years!
