Jroc04
Truth be told, there’s really no room for Jordan. I really like him too but what do you do with a T that’s not playing? As an extreme example; If you have 3 pro bowl QBs and no DEs on your team, isn’t it just logical to see if you can get a DE for your backup QBs? If you can move Jordan for Clowney, you do it in a heartbeat. This is why you recruit these guys. Turn them into assets and build up their value. Whether that value comes to fruition here or another team is moot. You can’t get hung up trying to keep every valuable piece. More focus on how these guys can help your team in other ways. If we were a rebuilding team or a team mired in mediocrity than maybe. But we’re knocking on 2 SBs in 3 years. It’s time to maximize this potential.
Jroc04
New news is that Mailata has a lower body injury and has missed the last two practices. Speculation has it that it’s a premeditated move to the IR. Which is good and bad I suppose. He’s not allowed to practice all year if he gets the designation. And if he’s going to get better, he needs to practice. Also, on the Clowney front, there was a report out that he’s none to happy with his agent. Clowney believes he’s going to Miami once his tender is signed. Odd that Miami would want him given that they’d probably had to give up Tunsil and also that they suck. Clowney does hold the cards though, he doesn’t have to sign that tender but would be pretty dumb if he didn’t.
Danger
Doug Pederson expects Fletcher Cox, Nigel Bradham, and Ronald Darby to be ready for Week 1 Quote There is still no Fletcher Cox at practice, but Pederson echoed what he said on Sunday, and he still expects the veteran defender to be ready to participate Week 1. He says that goal is still reasonable, and Cox has been working and getting his workouts in and is mentally prepared. Not just with Cox, but with guys like Nigel Bradham, Ronald Darby and others coming back from injury, Pederson agreed that they have had to discuss and plan for the possibility that even with their return Week 1, they might not be able to take on a full work-load. Nabbs4u
Figures DeSean would break a finger right before the season. While it is his left ring finger and they're down playing the injury. You do need hands 99% of the time to catch a football. Not ideal.

So frustrating to start the season with so many injuries. They said they’re expecting him to be ready for season opener

Kiltman
Nothing new and a little common sense, but I liked what Doug said today about these bottom of the roster moves. Gave some insight to their thinking. Where they know what they have in the guys they cut, if they find an opportunity elsewhere...good for them. But if they need them during the season, they’ll be out there. And bringing the new guys in allows them to keep expanding that knowledge base by getting them in the building.

No need bringing in another player wanting a 100M contract when there are current Eagles deserving to be paid/extended in the coming years. Potentially disrupting the Chemistry already built. Bringing in a Player who would expect play as many snaps at DE as possible to actually Justify said contract. You imagine Clowney in a Rotation? Being OK with coming off th he field for BG, Barnett, Curry, Sweat? He's overrated and theres a reason no one including the Texans are chomping at the bit to play him absurd money. Easy Pass! Move along! Edited August 28, 2019 by Nabbs4u

Move along! It really depends on what he can be had for. If we had Clowney, Sweat isn't a factor this year (still won't be because DasShon Hall is getting play time over Sweat as the 4th DE) Adding Clowney would be an absolute huge boost to this team, but it all comes down to if the price is right. Which is honestly a great thing to hear in the event that we do in fact want to sign him, means he really values winning hopefully over all else. Miami has great weather and lifestyle for someone of his status and age, but they suck at football and their sports fans never show. I don't know how he'd feel about playing in a rotation, don't know if he's aware how we do things here in that regard but still I find this encouraging in the event that we do seriously push to acquire him. Yeah that’s been something I’ve wondered too He can either hate it, or see it as a way to keep him fresh and lethal longer in season...and his career. Adding Clowney would make Graham and Barnett better with less attention and less workload too. But Im not sure about it, depends what we give up. No matter what, unless a team doubles down on the tag...we could have a shot at him next year regardless.
Nabbs4u
So you guys are ok with a 1 yr rental with no guarantee he will resign with the Eagles in 2020? He can't be signed to a long term contract and will be a FA or have to be Tagged at an even higher rate next year. Want no part of that scenario, especially if we're giving up actual value (Picks/Players)! The real reason, he hasn't been traded yet IMO. Not many clubs are willing to take the risk. Nor should we. Get a third back if he leaves, so it’s not like we are pissing away a bunch of stuff, and we currently have like 55-60 guys the team seems to want to keep. So trading a guy like Vaitai or Nelly would open up spots for the guys we control for longer. Because the chances are both of them walk too this year. The nice thing is he’s tagged as an olb and not a DE, so the tag isn’t as high. The situation had decreased his value to a tempting area. He comes here and loves it. We can resign him. There’s room and the cap is about to go way up with the new CBA. We are trying to win a super bowl. The 5th-6th option and a bench OL are not going to have nearly the impact Clowney would. He will be better here and will make the DL better. if we were trading a first, yeah maybe some hesitation without a new deal. But all reports have been south of that.
