We have seen Matakevich when he must play vs NFL starters.  He does not have the athleticism to be on the field.  He is slow to move and slow to react.  That does not mean he si not a great ST player.  He will lose his job when they have a player that is good in special teams and can actually be a backup.  Vwill is a step down from the modern NFL LB.  Big Red is a big step down from VWill.

At this point, Sutton Smith needs to get on the field.  I think they will store him on the PS and let him build strength and weight.  He could be a ST demon but he needs to get on the field and show us.

Smith is hurt and by the sounds of it won't ,make the team:o Even if they keep 5 OLB's, smith won't be one of them, and I was hoping he would make the team but Skipper has the last spot currently according to some and he is Tunch's official camp phenom for this season so it's legit .  Maybe Smith returns as a PS player, but will he be available? I would expect a team to take a chance.

That sucks but it obviously could have been worse. He looks to have become an effective situational Pass Rusher and, if he can improve upon Run support and Coverage, a real asset.

Skipper and Ola are 2 players I wanted to make the team. Not only since dupree will be gone next year ( and might not be good this year), but for depth at OLB that is legit. Smith was another player too, but he has been injured and is on the outside and probably won't make the team. Watt and dupree have had injuries in the past, and there is no guarantee they won't have to battle injuries  this season. I think a 3-4 D should have 3 quality OLB's  but 4 would be better ( but usually costly) .  This D currently has 1 (Watt  who is on PUP) , a major weakness for the D.

This could cost Ola his opportunity in Pittsburgh

I don't think we're there yet. He's shown enough (IMO) that a 2-4 Week Pre-Season injury isn't enough to cut bait. However, he is going to miss some important reps that could stunt some of his growth. I'm not overly concerned tho.

Saw on SD Smith is out again tonight. Tough blow for his chances on the 53.

Another big opportunity for Tuzar and Gilbert. Looking forward to seeing them a little more tonight.

Still very interested in Holton, Spencer, and now Johnson.

Add Hodges to that list.
