The only real challengers to the current 6 is Atlanta and Carolina, maybe the Eagles if Haskins is able to have a crazy good rookie year. Maybe the order of who's the division winner and the wildcard might change around, but I think the 6 from last year is a good bet with much of the changeover possibly coming from the AFC. Wow I disagree. Panthers, Falcons, Packers and Vikings are all good enough to push for a playoff spot. Niners and Bucs are two teams that have talent that people are assuming will be bad because they were last year, but Arians is a proven NFL coach and if the Niners stay healthy, they can be dangerous. On the flip side: Saints - offense was not good down the stretch - if Brees is done, this team is done - if their offense is just mediocre, they could go from top seed to 8 wins Rams - the Super Bowl losing team almost always has a tough time of it. Saffold will be tough to replace. Bears - they had a generous schedule and didn't really upgrade their roster - they weren't good enough to get it done last year, so at this point they're relying on Trubisky and an improved running game - but their defense repeating their performance is probably the least likely thing to happen this year - so with a worse defense, a more difficult schedule, and not a lot of talent added - that's a lot for Trubisky to make up for Cowboys - I think they played a little over their heads last year - could easily see them taking a step back Seahawks - Clark gone, Thomas gone, Baldwin gone, Reed suspended and now their first round pick has a high ankle sprain - could be looking at a 7 win season. Eagles - is Wentz the guy we saw two years ago? Will he be injured again? There's legit reasons for every single team to fall off. I personally think the Rams (not record-wise though) and Eagles will be better, and rest of these teams will be worse. How much worse is the question. Just for you: East - Giants North - Lions South - Tampa Bay West - Cards Wild Cards - Nashville Predators and the Montreal Expos. I like to live dangerously. megatechpc
I think the point he was making is that the NFC is wide open this year (like last year) and there are 8-10 teams with legitimate chances to get to the playoffs. You see turnover of 3-4 teams in the playoffs almost every year and this year will be no different. Of all likely scenarios, all six NFC playoff teams from last year making it back again this year is by FAR the least likely scenario. Personally, I think the Packers and Falcons get in this year and the Bears and Seahawks miss out.
