A little surprised although he isn't going to be a Top-53 guy for us

Unfortunately, you can't actually combine the talent of 3 roster QBs to make a single good one. Our QB situation may be sucky, but a 3rd guy that isn't going to play doesn't really help that. And it really didn't look like Allen has anything more than developmental backup upside. Which is fine, but doesn't really help the team on the field perform better right now.

He's really not. Some perverse variant of shiny new toy syndrome there or something. Henne sucks, but he's established himself pretty clearly as an average-ish NFL caliber backup. Allen has looked like a classic 3rd stringer/practice squad guy who can manage a game vs depth guys in preseason. Which is probably right where he'll end up.

Tossing it up to DeDe a few times against depth scrubs does not a good QB make.

They left a practice squad spot open for him and he got signed. Lol.

This team stays taking Ls, even on minimal stuff like this.

...you are in a serious dark place with this franchise. We really going that route with this?

Why wouldn't we wait and see if we could sign him back to the practice squad? Rams literally JUST announced this signing, showing teams still havent finished their PS. I think we'll be ok.

Because it’s quite clear that the team wanted him going forward and it was stupid to chance him getting signed when that was the case.

This is the third year in a row they have tried being cute by stashing a guy who they clearly wanted and watched another team sign them.

We needed a scout team/3rd QB on the PS. He knows the offense and has been around. Of course we likely wanted him back, but that doesn't mean we should have kept open a spot on the 53 for a 3rd string QB.

Teams lose guys they likely want on the PS all the time. We're talking about the last few spots on the active roster/PS guys. I really don't see the big deal either way.
