Slateman
As everyone expected. Honestly, we laugh, but they got Stroman for a minimal offering and they offloaded Vargas.
Thelonebillsfan
It'd be the Metsiest thing ever to piss off Thor to the point where he's publicly in his feelings about all of this only to not trade him and watch him leave next year for nothing. GSUeagles14
good trade by the mets. Vargas sucks, chances are he loses quite a few games for philly single handedly. Ill let tlbf get on with his silly sarcasm now.

Thelonebillsfan
I mean yeah Vargas sucks *** and it primed to get destroyed in Citizens. But this makes 0 sense for the Mets, they have no pitching depth, no options out there, a barren farm and are trying to trade 2 other starters. It's just another sign that they really have no direction. The move is just to eat Vargas, hope he keeps his performance up for another couple months and see about supplementing next year. But if you trade Wheeler or Thor then you're left with basically no internal options and not a lot of financial room for other options. It's a weird, nonsensical move from a franchise that really seems to not know WTF it's doing other than "Jeff Wilpon is dumb".
Leader
NY Post: The Mets are thus far known to be getting back Double-A catcher Austin Bossart who is hitting .195 this season, but is known for his defensive abilities. Vargas may not be the last pitcher traded off this staff before Wednesday’s 4 p.m. deadline with Noah Syndergaard, Zack Wheeler and Edwin Diaz all on the block. Vargas was a disaster with the Mets last season, his first in Flushing after signing a two-year, $16 million deal. The lefty, though, greatly improved as the 2019 season went on and was 6-5 with a 4.01 ERA before the trade went down.
tom cody
Vargas seems like a decent #3/#4 starter, not sure why the Mets would deal him in division.
