candyman93
Quote Rashard Higgins rode the momentum from his big game last week against the Redskins and another productive practice Monday into Wednesday’s session, having his way during one-on-one drills and catching a handful of first-down passes in team drills. This is nothing new between Mayfield and Higgins, who cooked up a strong rapport last year during training camp when both were on the second-team offense.

He has been a disappointment this year by not winning the guard job but he wasn't winning it last year or even in competition for it. Looks like a future center or career inside backup/fringe starter at this point. If he is a good center for 12 years it will be a good pick. Otherwise, assuming he doesn't become a pro-bowl guard, he was overdrafted. He could start next year at G or center and start for the next 8 years. He just isn’t ready. If he doesn’t start next year anywhere I’ll be right there with you. Still it’s disappointing he’s not starting already but not that shocking.

He ain't rashard higgins, a 5th or 6th rounder, he is a top pick, gotta contribute year 1 and go year 2.

Yeah, but it's not too early to call it the worst pick of Dorsey's tenure. Imagine if you will, an alternate universe where he takes Harold Landry and BJ Hill instead of Austin Corbett and Chad Thomas. John Dorsey you could have made that dream a reality.

I’m mostly being a knob at this point, he may be just fine as a center or even at guard or whatever. I’m not impatient and realize that some dudes need a year or two to figure things out. So clearly the book has not been written as of yet. That said, and I think we both agree, that at a minimum he was overdrafted if he’s not contributing until year 3 after 2 position changes. And I don’t even care about it much tbh, every GM whiffs.

You also have no idea if those guys pan out either. The revisionist history is fantastic to play with But player A playing great for team A , doesn’t mean they play great for team B, if team B drafted them instead. Does AB still turn into a hall of fame caliber player if he gets drafted by another team instead of the Steelers. Too many variables play an impact on a players development on where they go

Too many variables play an impact on a players development on where they go This is a fair argument, but guys like Landry and Sutton were the consensus favorites (here anyway) at that spot (along with Chubb) and both of those guys look like far better options. If Dorsey was set on taking an OL, Hernandez was a higher rated prospect by most at G and Daniels was as well at C. By all accounts those two seem to be playing like high second round IOL picks. If he was drafted with the idea he was a tackle, well then they clearly whiffed there. Again, no one is saying he can’t improve or even have a great career, but thus far he’s been beat out by lesser opponents in consecutive years and two different positions. He’s not just getting beat out, he’s gotten beat out when the team has penciled him in as the starter and gave him every opportunity to win the job. It is too early to call it anything. I’m literally only saying give him another offseason. He’s got talent and he will probably start somewhere next year. If not then we can march down Lou groza blvd with torches and pitchforks.
