I watched everything I could in camp practices. He looked stronger and more physical at the LOS.

I know this was sarcasm. But he did look at least more interested than he did last year.

Well there's your problem. You set him as the bar. In that regard, everyone deserves a roster spot.

Instead of comparing to 2018 Chad Thomas, use "average replacement player" as the bar. Is he there yet?

That wasn't a sarcastic question, but it is the kind of question that you already know the answer to before asking.

He's made enough improvement that he's worth holding onto another year to see if he can keep going. If he was an 8 year vet right now, he would not be kept.

He’s made his way into being a rotational player.

Enough improvement? Based on what? That one play where he set an edge and someone else made the tackle?

As the 5th DE, behind Avery and Zettel.

With another year, he may even make his way up to 4th DE. Or he could just get beat out by a late round pick or street free agent. Again.

He's been outperformed by players with much lower expectations. I don't see that changing.

Lol...

Im not disagreeing with you. I’m just relaying what I heard/read about him from coaches/insiders. He won’t be anything more than a rotational player at best.

It goes beyond preseason games, but I agree with you, I don't think the outlook is great. They see potential that we don't, so as long as he keeps improving at a good pace, he's here to stay.
