He couldn't even suit up last year when we had nothing at WR, so I'm not surprised that after his fight and shenanigans with the football in the pond that he's cut. Ray Reed Posted July 31, 2019 Share Posted July 31, 2019 yeah some people on this forum were/are wayyyyy too high on what Lasley "proved" last year. he couldn't see the field when the games mattered and he had a marvelous SIX CATCHES last preseason for an outstanding FIFTY EIGHT YARDS. with several drops to boot. you certainly could have liked him as a prospect but i have no idea how on earth you could look at what he did as a member of the Ravens last year and say he proved his ability lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We all knew Lasley wasn't a Harbaugh guy, so this isn't that big of a shock in the end. Fights, antics, super extra personality. None of that is going to gel with John, even if you do have talent. In some ways I wonder if this point actually favors Scott over Lasley. Team clearly was interested in protecting Scott via the IR stash whereas Lasley was never active and might have been subject to waivers if the team needed the roster spot during the year. No. The team would've cut Scott, a 4th Round pick. If he didn't agree to take a redshirt year. It was a scenario that in no way shined favorably upon Jaleel. Jordan Lasley was evaluated as an early round prospect. Kiper considered him to have 1st Round ability. He was Zierlein's #2 WR when his rankings first came out, with Torrey Smith listed as his comp. Hyper productive in college with great tape against CBs like Adoree Jackson. It was character flags that made him fall to the fifth round. We rolled the dice, and selected a personality type we usually don't- to try and hit at a position we've struggled with. He flashed throughout the process with plays against our CBs, other teams' CBs in practice- notably Marcus Peters in our joint work with the Rams. And then in game as well. All at age 21, he's 2 years younger than Scott. The FO liked him enough as pure receiver to keep him over other players at his position that boasted special teams ability. But doing the phantom injury IR-stash (or IR'ing him over something small) suggests that they were interested in keeping him for 2019. Just because he failed in year 1 doesn't meant they would want to abandon a 4th Round pick. He wasn't popular in this locker room after one year and the team felt good enough about our WR group (which isn't good, btw) to outright cut him after one year, which we never do. My point was solely in the context of team preference relative to Lasley. If the team viewed them as relatively similar talents, at least as it relates to year-1 contribution, then it would make sense to carry Lasley on the 53 as the last WR as he would be the one you would rather cut in the case of a roster crunch. diamondbull424 Posted August 3, 2019 Share Posted August 3, 2019 Pretty respectful for the team to let him go this early. It allows him time to learn another offense and catch on. Otherwise we cut him closer to the season and he doesn’t have time to pickup another playbook forcing him to be a PS player or sit a year out. At least now he has a chance to truly catch on. I could see him succeeding with the Raiders. He goes back home to Cali. And I can imagine his personality is something Gruden would appreciate.
