dll2000
I think we know who the primary 7 WRs in 2019 are going to be. I don't know how many are going to make 53, but to me it doesn't really matter beyond these 7 unless we get hammered by injuries. Robinson -outside/inside - not going to hand it to him or throw him screens much if at all. Entire route tree. Bears best WR. Gabriel - outside/inside - will hand it to him on jet - will throw him screens. Has entire route tree. Miller - Primarily Inside - will hand it to him wherever. Will throw him screens. Entire route tree. Wims - outside - not going to hand it to him or throw him screens much if at all. Same as Robinson, but not as good. Patterson - limited route tree. Probably 9, comeback, slant, screen, jet, - also will play TB. Ridley - probably same as Miller. Cohen - you have to count as WR as well. He has entire route tree and they will line him up anywhere. I think in terms of where MT will or should be looking, Robinson is your number 1 option. Cohen is number 2 when in game. Bears know this and run a lot of two man concepts with Cohen and Robinson and it was their single most effective play last year as discussed below. I think that will be even better this year as both look amazing in practice. Usually its Robinson deep with Cohen on a two way go which is mismatch for most defenders. But when teams adjusted to that, Nagy went Robinson short and Cohen fake to inside and wheel over top. That made some huge plays. To illustrate what I am talking about watch this starting at 8:22: To continue: Gabriel is 2nd option for now because Miller hasn't been very sharp after missing offseason rehabbing. I imagine Miller gains on him as season goes. As long as he doesn't get too frustrated. Honestly, Gabriel hasn't been awesome either. We'll see how it plays out. Wims is first off bench for anyone outside and Ridley (when healthy) will probably be first off bench for anyone inside. So they are kind of co-number 4s. (not counting TEs). Patterson is kind of a specialist role. He will be there to mess with defensive personnel. How much he is used will depend on how effective that is. His number one job is probably KR.
