Rockice_8
I'm gonna wait another week or so but figured maybe we can start the discussion. I like Kyron Brown to sneak on at CB, Dortch to stick as returner, and White to hang on as #5 WR. Those are the early sleepers to stick on the 53 for me. Rockice_8
I'll give it my initial shot. IR: TE Chris Herndon (Suspension) OT Brent Qvale (Injury) CB Bless Austin (Injury) Offense: QB: Sam Darnold, Trevor Siemian (2) RB: Le'Veon Bell, Ty Montgomery, Elijah McGuire, Cannon (more for ST/KR) (4) WR: Jamison Crowder, Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson, Josh Bellamy, Tim White (5) TE: Ryan Griffin, Daniel Brown, Trevon Wesco, (Brown to be cut once Herndon gets back) (3) OT: Kelvin Beachum, Chuma Edoga, Brandon Shell, Eric Smith (4) OG: Kelechi Osemele, Brian Winters, Alex Lewis, Tom Compton (4) OC: Ryan Kalil, Jonotthan Harrison (2) Defense: DE: Leonard Williams, Henry Anderson, Nathan Shepard (3) NT: Steve McLendon, Quinnen Williams (2) OLB: Brandon Copeland, Jachai Polite, Jordan Jenkins, Tarrell Basham, Frankie Luvu (5) ILB: C.J. Mosley, Avery Williamson, Blake Cashman, Neville Hewitt, Anthony Wint (5) CB: Trumaine Johnson, Darryl Roberts, Kyron Brown, Derrick Jones, Brian Poole (5) FS: Marcus Maye, Doug Middleton (2) SS: Jamal Adams, Brandon Bryant, Rontez Miles (3) Special: (4) PK: Chandler Catanzaro P: Lachlan Edwards LS: Thomas Hennessy RS: Greg Dortch My big omission is Powell. I think they go Cannon and McGuire over him for youth and Cannon's return and gunner ability. That hurts to leave him off. I'll say we snag Cre'von Leblanc from PHI near the end of camp and release Nickerson to the PS. Edited August 6, 2019 by Rockice_8
jetskid007
Waiver/Trade Additions: 2020 conditional 5th round pick to PHI for CB Rasul Douglas - Joe has obvious ties to Rasul, as they spent a few years together with the Eagles. Rasul is move of an outside corner, but the team has so much depth and there's not a true path to a starting job. Meanwhile, he could be the Jets #1 corner by seasons end. Funny how things work. RB Eli McGuire traded to TB for CB MJ Stewart - both are buried on the depth chart despite starting experience and can use a change of scenery. Stewart is perfect for Gregg Williams scheme due to his physicality and fits both inside and outside. He replaces Nickerson on the roster. Only 23. Sign CLE K Greg Joseph - narrowly loses out to 5th round pick Austin Seibert. Joseph was in camp with MIA last offseason and nearly won the job, went on to have a solid season with CLE. Only 25. Sign WAS WR Josh Doctson - the Jets have been scouring the receiver market of late, and the former first round pick is on the hot seat. Surprise Cuts: DL Nathan Shepherd CB Parry Nickerson S Doug Middleton WR Deontay Burnett P Lachlan Edwards Offense: QB: Sam Darnold, Trevor Siemian (2) RB: Le'Veon Bell, Ty Montgomery, Bilal Powell, Trenton Cannon (4) WR: Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, Jamison Crowder, Josh Doctson, Josh Bellamy, Greg Dortch (6) TE: Ryan Griffin, Daniel Brown, Trevon Wesco (3) OT: Kelvin Beachum, Chuma Edoga, Brandon Shell, Eric Smith (4) OG: Kelechi Osemele, Brian Winters, Alex Lewis, Tom Compton (4) OC: Ryan Kalil, Jonotthan Harrison (2) Defense: DE: Leonard Williams, Henry Anderson, Bronson Kaufusi (3) NT: Quinnen Williams, Steve McLendon, Foley Fatukasi (3) OLB: Jordan Jenkins, Harvey Langi, Frankie Luvu, Jachai Polite (4) ILB: C.J. Mosley, Neville Hewitt, Anthony Wint, Blake Cashman (4) CB: Trumaine Johnson, Darryl Roberts, Brian Poole, Rasul Douglas, MJ Stewart, Arthur Maulet (6) FS: Marcus Maye, Rontez Miles (2) SS: Jamal Adams, Brandon Bryant, Derrick Kindred (3) Special: PK: Greg Joseph (1) P: Matt Darr (1) LS: Thomas Hennessy (1) Off Roster: TE Chris Herndon (suspension) LB Avery Williamson (injury/IR) OT Brent Qvale (injury/PUP)CB Blessuan Austin (injury/IR)LB Brandon Copeland (suspension) CB Kyron Brown (injury) Main takeaways: Underrated offense: the Jets offense is going to be sneaky good this year. I think their OL will be good enough and I love the versatility at RB/WR. They'll be that much more potent when Herndon gets back. Believe it or not, I feel like this will be a top 12 unit in the NFL. More of Maccagnan's 2017 draft class decimated: only 2 remain in Adams/Maye. Jets make moves at CB: I see the Jets being active at CB next week, making smart trades to try and revamp the position. LB is weak: The Jets are going to run a lot of 4-2-6 formations with Mosely and Adams as LB, which is why they aren't too concerned about the state of the position. Bronson Kaufusi, Jordan Jenkins, and Jachai Polite will be competing for snaps as the "4th" DL in clear pass rushing situations. A new 4th WR: in a perfect world they would keep Burnett, but in reality I think they let him go. He only plays slot WR - not a threat outside nor on special teams - and you can't have 3 slots on one team that values versatility. Josh Doctson becomes the teams 4th receiver and primary backup to Robby Anderson/Quincy Enunwa. Record Prediction: 9-7. Every first year Jets head coach has had a winning record. Between the improvements we've made, second year jump for Sam, and an easy-ish schedule, I think 9 wins is attainable.
SDotNova
Can’t believe Doctson is on the hot seat. I know a lot of Jets fans are high on Burnett, but I agree that we don’t have mug depth at outside receiver. Dortch can backup the slot and be a a returner. So can Ty and Bell. NYJets4716
I would be surprised if Kyron Brown doesn't make it, they held him out of the last game to not risk injury. That means they envision him on the 53 and helping this team. They have him high on the depth chart, they must really like him.

SDotNova
I’m expecting a couple of surprise cuts. Edge: I think we are going to cut Polite and keep Phillips. WR: We keep 7 (big 3 plus Bellamy, Burnett, Thompson and Dortch) We add another CB through waiver/FA and upgrade K. At this point, I’m not expecting anything too drastic since it sounds like we are out on Clowney. Edited August 30, 2019 by SDotNova
