The Cleveland Browns beat the New Orleans Saints 35-17 in Superbowl 55. Somehow the Saints made the superbowl 2 years in a row, with RYan freaking Tannehill this year.

Notable Retirees

  • Michael Bennett
  • Alex Smith
  • Terrell Suggs
  • Eric Weddle

Andy Reid has been fired by the Chiefs, damn

2020/2021 OFFSEASON

I've already signed everyone that was a FA that I cared about. but there is one roster move to announce.

  • Matt Milano has been signed to a franchise tag worth $19.8m

This is a huge number... but I have $60m in cap space and no plans to use a lot of it. FA this year will again be depth if at all.

Unfortunately with OROY, Wes Kilian did not get upgraded to a Superstar X Factor. He will need to do something big like win QBOTY next year to have a chance, and that will be difficult to do unless I upgrade his WRs. That may have become priority #1 this year.

Free Agency

  • three players rejected my offers. bleh

He sucks, but I need some depth on the edge.

Big Name FA signings around the league include (85+ overall)....

  • CB Desmond King 91 re-signs with the Chargers
  • HB James White 895 signs with the Titans
  • CB Chidobe Awuzie 85 signs with the 49ers
  • FS Budda Baker 85 signs with the Seahawks
  • OLB Samsom Ebukam 85 signs with the Patriots
  • HB Marlon Mack 85 signs with the Titans
  • HB Leonard Fournette 85 signs with the Patriots
  • DE Calais Campbell 81 X Factor signs with the Colts

My needs have mainly stayed the same as before, but going into the draft I rank them like this.

  1. EDGE
  2. WR
  3. S
  4. CB
  5. HB
  6. IOL
  7. DT
  8. LB

Smaller board this year. I tried to eliminate some of the fluff, and honestly this draft seems a lot worse in the later rounds than last year. I have picks 1 and 4, and while I would rather not have two picks that high, there is a CLEAR top 5 in this draft class for ME. They are the top 4 on my board, and LT Leonard Roye. I don't Roye in tier 1 because I won't be drafting him unless I move down, and right now I am very conflicted.

Shredrick McKinley is #1 on my board right now, and not gonna lie, partly because I drafted a CB named SHredrick Phelps in my Madden 18 Bills franchise and he was a stud.

I really want to upgrade the offense, because I want my QB to progress, and I want to have some fun when I start playing a user game here and there. Here's a run down on the top guys.

  • WR McKinley looks like a damn stud, and he's a very good athlete with average speed.
  • RB Rashawn Prince is one of those draft stories son of an Olympian. He is a near elite athlete and has A- top 3 skills including elusiveness and carrying. I would lvoe to have a solid RB because it makes simming more successful.
  • S  Treyvon Banks won the Heisman. He is an ELITE athlete, but looks a little weaker skill wise. Likely means he will be a low 70s player, but I love the athlete, size, and sick name.
  • CB LeKambrick has the coolest name of the bunch. He is an above average athlete, but he is a strong man corner, and those are hard to find outside the top 10 picks, where I hopefully will be next year.

I'm really struggling on what I should do here. Here are the scenarios I am running through:

  • Do I stay at #1 and take a player, likely  WR Shredrick McKinley? Then from there, do I:
    • Stay at 4 and take one of the remaining top 4 players, ensuring two (likely) studs, but picking up no extra draft capital for this or next year?
    • Or I can move down from 4 and pick up a mid round 1st and another high pick next year?
  • Or do I move down from 1, maybe to 3 overall, and guarantee myself 2 of the 4, but I would guess I would lose Shredrick. I would pick up probably a 2nd or 1st next year out of it, is that worth it? If I got one of the offensive players it would be worth it, but if they went 1-2, then I'll be super pissed. The corner and safety are really good. but I would really love to add a good offensive skill position player

One really interesting thing about that last option is the Steelers pick 3rd. Roethlisberger is a 77 overall, and the top overall player in the draft is a QB who looks pretty damn good (wish he was in last years class lol). If I traded #1 to the Steelers, I would have to think they would take him... but I don't understand Madden draft logic so I have no idea. I would much prefer it to be an NFC team I give a future stuf QB to, but it is definitely an option........

I'm gonna make dinner and think it over before I draft. I really feel like that WR-RB combo could set me up for a long time, but I really need a corner and a safety. It's a shame there's no elite edge talent in this draft because that would make the decision really easy.

2021 NFL Draft

Well here we go. I pick 3rd and 4th, and I think at this point I will take whatever is there, but if it really goes wrong, I might trade back again from 4. Here are the 4 main guys I've talked about here. Treyvon Banks is mid 1st and the rest are early 1st. Praying the top 2 go QB and one of the 3 but not Shredrick....

BILLS 2021 DRAFT BOARD
PROJ   NAME AGE HT WT SCHOOL COMBINE
1 WR SHREDRICK MCKINLEY 22 6.1 200 OREGON 7.2
1 S TREYVON BANKS 21 6.1 209 WAKE FOREST 7.3
1 HB RASHAWN PRINCE 21 5.11 205 OREGON 7.2
1 CB LEKAMBRICK POLLEY 21 6.2 181 RICE 6.9

The Steelers go... WR William Green. He was another early 1st prospect, 75 overall. I was really hoping that was going to be the QB.

The Eagles are OTC #2..... I'm going to stay put. The Eagles take..... LeKambrick Polley, CB. He'y a 76.

I'm up at 3. I have my choic between McKinley, Banks and Prince. I know one for sure, so I will take him and think about the others.

With the 3rd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Shredrick McKinley, WR, Oregon

WOVGe9Om.jpgcv4vGFlm.jpg

This dude is a monster. I never take WRs early.. and I can't imagine the guy the Chiefs got last year being better than this by 2 overall points, but I'm super happy. Even if he is a Star, he should still be my best receiver this year.

I am on the clock again, and I'm still torn on who to take. I could pick HB Rashawn Prince, who was Shredrick's college teammate at Oregon, and imo solve my offensive problems. Or I could take Treyvon Banks at safety, the Heisman winner, because I have no safeties right now. The responsible decision would be to trade down a few spots because the safety and that left tackle will likely last a little longer..... but I really want to take the running back....

With the 4th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Rashawn Prince, HB, Oregon

r2UtkJxm.jpgn4KBs90m.jpg

I couldn't resist. Shredrick and Rashawn teaming up in the bigs. Screw defense I guess, right? It's a shame that May wasn't what I thought he was going to be, but he will be a solid backup. This gives me a great youg offensive core of Wes Kilian, Shredrick and Rashawn to build around, and the OL is coming along with the picks from last year.

  • S Treyvon Banks went #9 to the Bucs. He's a 75.
  • LT Leonard Roye goes #10 to the 49ers. 78 ovr.

One thing I immediately notice with the WR is he has decent route running at all 3 levels... Last year the vast majority of the time (even with the elite prospects) a player would either be a possession guy with good/great short route running but would have a very low deep route rating or he'd be a deep threat with good/great deep route ability but very low short route running... Good to see they made it so there are guys who are all around receivers this year.

As we approach my picks at 2.4 and 2.8, this is the board I'm looking at.

BILLS 2020 DRAFT BOARD
2 LE | DT CASE BARTLETT 21 6.5 300 WEST MICHIGAN 5.9
2 C BILLY KELLY 23 6.3 312 FLORIDA 5.1
3 DT JAMAR OLIVIER 23 6.4 297 CONNECTICUT 6.8
3 RE RANDY RIDLEY 22 6.5 285 IOWA 5.9
4 RT MIGUEL ESPINOSA 22 6.5 319 AUBURB 6.5
1 LT LEONARD ROYE 21 6.6 317 OHLAHOMA 6.2
1 LE GERALD HUTTON 23 6.1 241 ARKANSAS 6.8
2 RE ZAC SESSION 23 6.4 240 SOUTH CAROLINA 6.6
2 LE JACOBY BARTON 23 6.4 250 NC STATE 6.3
2 CB MATTHIAS HUMPHREY 22 2.11 192 UTAH STATE 6.5
3 QB RON MCINTOSH 22 6 223 USC 5.8
3 FS KEVIN MAGEE 22 5.11 204 KENTUCKY 6.8
3 DT RICHARD WROTEN 21 6.4 305 OLE MISS 6.3

Case Bartlett and Jamar Olivier are really similar players. I could get Olivier a round later, but he's 23 to Bartlett's 21.

  • I missed Hutton being picked
  • LE Barton goes 24th to the Falcons
  • QB Dalton Kennedy went ******* 28th to the Chargers. He is a 78 and had A+ power, A and A accuracies. Are you kidding me Madden

We made it to my pick, 2.4, and Case Bartlett survived the board. Billy Kelly is really good, but there are some later guys I really like as well.

With pick 2.4 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Case Bartlett, DE/DT, Western Michigan

Qlr7G0Im.jpg?1ssGBkacm.jpg?1

So far this is going about as well as it could. Deep down those were the two guys I wanted in the first, and Case is who I wanted to grab here. I will move him to DT because I run a 43 and he will likely step in as the 2nd starter. 90 strength and 77 speed is a nice combo, and we'll develop those power moves.

We'll skip ahead a few picks, and this is a simple one too. If  C Billy Kelly is there, I'll be taking him.

And he went. G dangit. Well at 2.8 here's who's left.

BILLS 2020 DRAFT BOARD
3 DT JAMAR OLIVIER 23 6.4 297 CONNECTICUT 6.8
3 RE RANDY RIDLEY 22 6.5 285 IOWA 5.9
4 RT MIGUEL ESPINOSA 22 6.5 319 AUBURB 6.5
2 RE ZAC SESSION 23 6.4 240 SOUTH CAROLINA 6.6
3 FS KEVIN MAGEE 22 5.11 204 KENTUCKY 6.8
3 DT RICHARD WROTEN 21 6.4 305 OLE MISS 6.3

My hidden pick this year was gonna be Espinosa. He is a 4th round player with great attibutes similar to Joe Sandridge last year. Now that I missed out on the center I would like to add him.

Olivier at this point is a luxury pick, and I have a ton of needs. If I drafted him I would basically need to move on from Oliver, and I'd like to keep Oliver longer. So my options here are down to Randy Ramsey or Zac Session. They are completely different edge players. Session is a Brian Burns type, and Randy Ramsey is an elephant end. I don't really have a preference between the two, they both look good, but one does have a better athletic profile for his size.

With pick 2.8 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Zac Session, DE, South Carolina

Yxx3Kc6m.jpgccz5bhDm.jpg

I am actually extremely surpised by this. I was expecting him to be normal dev since it seems every non-1st round edge rusher in this game is normal. His athletic profile is amazing. He will rush the passer from the right end spot from day 1.

Gonna skip to my next pick now. Here's who made it.

BILLS 2020 DRAFT BOARD
4 RT MIGUEL ESPINOSA 22 6.5 319 AUBURB 6.5
4 RG TRAVIS THOMPSON 24 6.3 336 ARIZONA STATE 4.9
4 DT WILLIS MCDONALD 21 6.2 295 N. DAKOTA STATE 6.6
4 MLB LUCAS ANDREWS 21 6.3 247 TCU 6.5
4 DT QUINCY SHIVERS 21 6.1 292 GEORGIA 6.4
4 WR BENJAMIN WHARTON 23 6 190 WEST GEORGIA 5.8
4 WR TREVEON JAMESON 23 5.11 180 GEORGIA 6.1
5 HB DAVE STUBER 22 5.11 202 N. DAKOTA STATE 6.6
5 QB ANDREW WESTBROOK 22 6.1 223 TOLEDO 5.4

I was hoping Ramsey would have made it here so I could double dip, but he didn't. Espinosa is the only player from my top board who made it, so this is an easy first pick. I also own the next pick, so I will fire both off here. I'm a little torn with where to go with the 2nd one. Like I really like WR Treveon Jameson, and he's an early 4th, so the timing is right now. He won't be there at 3.30. The DTs are effectively off the board since I took a good one a couple picks ago, same with the HB. Travis Thompson is good, and I will consider him depending on what Espinosa looks like. Basically it's down to Jameson, WR Wharton, and MLB Lucas Andrews. I don't have a big need this year at LB with Milano on the tag, Tremaine Edmunds being a stud, and Vosean Joseph being that 2nd athletic LB playing ROLB., so I think the pick will be Jameson.

With pick 3.3 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Miguel Espinosa, OT, Auburn

yW8BpVpm.jpgcedIc9Ym.jpg

Espinosa will likely replace Cody Ford. Never really liked him. I still have Mitch Morse in the middle who I will look to replace probably next year, and Dion Dawkins at LG. They are both solid for now, and I've nailed 3 OL picks now. This draft is incredible

With pick 3.4 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Trevon Jameson, WR, Georgia

IG0YZtHm.jpgKGtJBukm.jpg

And another one! 6 picks 6 hidden devs. I can't miss wtf. I would love to play Trevon this year, and we'll see if he is better than Kendall Kerr at this point. I still have 4 picks left, but I don;t have that many left on the board.

5 QB ANDREW WESTBROOK 22 6.1 223 TOLEDO 5.4

I'm at 3.30 and here's who's left. That's it. I don't really need any of these positions, but I will probably take the QB as my backup next round simply because backup QBs ask for an absurd amount of money in this game.

I think with this pick, I'll go WR again because I've already drafted 2 hidden, meaning I will be training WR all year.

With pick 3.30 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Benjamin Wharton, WR, West Georgia

I thought I had a 4th but I don't, and the QB went. I have a few OL scouted I can take that weren't on the board.

With pick 5.4 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select,

Jerome Finney, OT, Northern Illinois

Good depth but it had to end somewhere.

I'm going to trade the last 2 picks away. No one left worth taking.

3.3 WR BENJAMIN WHARTON 23 6 190 WEST GEORGIA 5.8 69 ?
5.4 RT JEROME FINNEY 22 6.6 311 NORTHERN ILLINOIS ? 67 N

This will go down as the draft that saved the Bills franchise. 5 day 1 starters, potentially more starters down the road. We'll revisit mid-season when the developments are released.

Let's look at some of the other guys we were looking at in the draft.

  • Steelers took WR William Green #1, 75 ovr hidden
  • Eagles took CB LeKambrick Polley #2, 76 ovr hidden
  • Bucs took S Treyvon Banks #9, 75 ovr hidden
  • 49ers took LT Leonary Roye #10, 78 ove hidden
  • Ravens took DE Gerald Hutton, 70 ovr normal. Wow! I really liked him
  • Falcons took DE Jacoby Barton #24, 70 over normal too. These bird teams saved my draft
  • Chargers took that QB, Dalton Kennedy #28, he's 78 hidden. The dude is legit a stud
  • Raiders took C Billy Kelly who I really wanted. He's a 73 ovr hidden. The Raiders also took RG George Chatham #6 ovr who's a 77 hidden. Rebuilding that OL
  • Broncos took S Kevin Magee 2.19, he's a 70 ovr hidden. I liked him.
  • Giants took DT Jamar Olivier at 2.25. He's a 70 ovr hidden. He will be a good one I think but glad I took who I did.
  • Seahawks took DE Randy Ridley at 2.30. 70 ovr hidden. Seems like this was just a really damn good class
  • Giants took RG Travis Thompson 3.25, 71 ovr hidden. Another good pick by the Giants, and he was on my board.
  • Falcons took MLB Lucan Andrews 3.24, 66 ovr hidden. Jesus
  • Last one on my board, the Packers took QB Andrew Westbrook 4.12. He's a 65 ovr normal.

This just seems like it was a crazy strong draft. Tons of hidden devs, most of the guys on my board were hidden. I'm sure next year will be an absolute bust of a draft because of it.

That is a pretty insane draft class.  I did a draft last night and hit 1 hidden in 15 picks.
