Nah. Then you get teams that have the Mahomes/Manning/Brady's of the world and get to pay them on a discount.

Franchise QBs continue to hover around 15% of the cap.

Could use a hybrid method.

Designate 1 player as your "franchise" player regardless of their position. This player's contract does not count towards the cap. You can only remove this designation once the players contract is up. This contract can only be used on players that were originally drafted by their team.

This allows some position flexibility, while still creating some parity for the teams that dont have Mahomes, Wilson, Brady etc.

I still stand by the same thing I have said for a decade. The first team you sign with (draft/UDFA), your contract should only count 95% against the cap for that team. I think that fixes everything.

Seems to me they’re desperate to get his deal done before the franchise tag deadline. Think they really prefer to use it on Coop.

Makes sense, and if I'm correct,  cant they use the transition tag as well assuming no CBA by Thursday? Jones or Quinn

Just heard an interesting argument on narratives:

2016: Drew Brees is trash because he cant beat good teams

2017: Russell Wilson is trash because he cant beat good teams

2018: Aaron Rodgers is trash because he cant beat good teams

2019: Dak Prescott is trash because he cant beat good teams

Assuming you have watched all of the above play.   Now tell me Dak is anywhere near the qb that any one of those three were/are.

He is 100% better than any of them heading into year 5. Only Wilson can compete

He’s not better than Rodgers circa 09-10. Do not just post their stat lines next to one another as if mean QB production were the same then as it is now, you know’s that disingenuous. Brees’ career is an anomaly in general.

lol Rodgers is the most talented QB ever and won the SB in his third season as the starter.

I like Dak, our FO is totally ****ing around trying to make him any less than the highest paid QB. Do not just compare him to 3 Hall of Famers and expect to be taken seriously.

So his first year actually starting is pretty damn close to Daks 4th year of starting

Rodgers 3rd season starting was like his 6th year in the NFL

Not really. How did you come to that conclusion?

Pretty simple really. Dak had never thrown for over 4,000 yards until year 4. Rodgers did it in his first year starting. Dak had 30 TD passes, Rosgers had 28. Dak had 11 Ints, Rodgers had 13.

That's pretty damn close
