With how everyone else at his position is playing, he has to come back strong.

That was fairly telling. Both you and I were pretty high on the idea of drafting a TE last April and I’ve seen nothing thus far that makes me think we were wrong. I think a great draft option for 2020 would be Albert Okwuegbunaum of Missouri. 13 hours ago, carl_sjunior said: We're for sure going to carry 3 QBs. Gilbert is gonna wind up being the backup. He has way more to work with physically than Stanton. I agree that Stanton has slid down the depth chart to "emergency QB/QB coach in waiting" status. I don't think Dorsey would be this daring (or dumb) but if they would now expose Gilbert at any time to waivers (to the practice squad) he would be gone so fast...... Dorsey ain't that stupid. 13 hours ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: Nah, I think his talent buys him another chance. When he comes back he’s the 4th receiver. There isn’t a team that has a 4th DB who can cover him. He’s gonna feast. I was going to say, LGB, that when Antonio returns he would slot back into the #2 WR spot. (I doubt he is released, but he certainly could be traded before the season) But after seeing and reading what you had to say - what you propose is the much better way to go. It sends a message to all these kids. If you want to eff around with drugs repeatedly and put your availability in jeopardy - and embarrass the team in the process - we will demote you, trade you, release you. We don't care who you are. But matching Antonio's skill set against a 4th CB would be cruel and unusual punishment for the defense. Also factoring in is that Hollywood Higgins has EARNED the #2 WR, with Juice in the slot. I think that Willies and Strong are your 5th and 6th WR's - with D.J. Montgomery ticketed for the PS. brooks1957
BTW - did anyone else see Freddie post game presser? What a refreshing view from the top! No need to check the blankety blank tape; (up yours Hue) Freddie keenly remembers what he saw and when he saw it. And he is not afraid to let his players know he wasn't happy. The more I see of Freddie, the more I see a Parcells mini-me. ME. LIKEY.

He’s not that bad. He’s still young and needs to get stronger. I wouldn’t be against trading him for someone who will benefit us now though... like a kicker. Seriously... lol

Truth be told, unless there is something they completely missed in their evaluation, keep him another year and see if you can get things to click for him. Dorsey clearly believes some guys need more time than others (Robinson, Perriman, Strong), might as well see if you can get things to click for him provided he looks salvageable in their eyes. He obviously had enough talent to intrigue them enough to take him over a LOT of bigger names and higher rated prospects (on others eyes anyway), let him work things out a bit on the bench. You can’t put the OBR down because things do or don’t happen. Personnel is a fluid situation. Things fall through. Maybe nothing materializes. It does give a sense of the direction they’re looking.
