WAS TE Jordan Reed removed from week 3 preseason game with another possible concussion

This would be his 7th concussion (2 in college minimum, 4 known in the NFL).    Dude really needs to hang up the cleats but retirement they don’t get paid.  I smell IR-return soon if this is #7.

And holy h*ll Keanu Neal come on dude.   2-game suspension (that gets reduced to 1 on appeal) coming?

I know it is the players decision, but at what point does the team or the league try to convince him to stop playing?  He should not be on the field.

Well if a team really wants to convince him, they put him on IR this year, without return.  Then they release him next year, and no one signs him.

The kicker - if Reed retires, he doesn't get paid the 2019 salary.  It's not guaranteed for injury, and even if it was, retirement is voluntary.  So a team has everything to gain by hoping Reed retires - but Reed's not likely going to want to retire now, at worst he'll do it next offseason, and get paid now.

Of course, WAS could do the "right" thing and IR him right now, but that's a 7.7M decision.   So I get why both sides aren't include to act on their own, and they'll see what the other party does.

Just another example of why we don't need four preseason games.

2 should be plenty.

Let's be honest, the front office knows who they're cutting before the 4th game and the amount of true position battles that need to be decided by the 4th game isn't worth of risk of injury to a #2 lineman. We don't need game 4 where the last half is just a "participation award" for the players who never had a shot at making the team.

The starters play a series in game one.....don't need it. The starters don't play a down in game 4....don't need it. So the relevant players essentially play 3 quarters of football out of 16.

Let the starters play (if they want/need) a quarter in game one.....quarter + a series or a half in game two. That's still 5-6 quarters of football to evaluate back-up battles. Should be plenty.
