The NFL really need to look at preseason because it is clear that coaches are barley even using it to settle roster battles...most of the guys playing will be on the streets in a week...cut preseason to two games and extent the regular season by two.

I believe on some teams they are but with the Bears there just aren't all that many to settle.

From what I'm seeing we have a battle at ILB with three guys; Kwit, Woods, and Iggy, competing for two spots.

Assuming Lynch is simply being rested while getting over his injury we have maybe one spot at OLB that will probably go to Irving again.

TE has some competition but seemingly Nagy prefers keeping Sowell as his "Y" TE over either Raymond or Bunting so that spot is mostly whether one or both make the PS.

RB is just Nall or Whyte with the other going to the PS if he passes waivers.  The others are all locked.

If there was any competition at WR it seems Wims has closed the door on any chance he won't make the roster so the only guy hanging is Marvin Hall.

Coward is gonna be the swing OT as soon as he recovers from his elbow injury.  He still needs a lot of coaching up but he's far better than the others.  And Bars looks like he's a lock at OG.

Even the secondary seems pretty settled with Tolliver, Shelley, Bush and McManis as primary backups.

So we have maybe 45 guys battling for 8 spots and even most of those have players who are pretty much in the lead for their spot.
