Positional Coaches

Looking for everyone to shed some light on the unsung heroes of the league. Let's hear about some of the positional coaches that are, quietly and quite frankly, geniuses. I appreciate this is tailor made for users to pick 'one of their own', but if he deserves a mention, lets hear about it!

Dante Scarnecchia (New England's Offensive Line Coach)

2015 AFC CG. Scar was mid retirement, and we were using a new OL coach. Von Miller and the Broncos wreak havoc on our OL, to the point where he have to use 6 Offensive Linemen, and they STILL hit Brady a whopping 20 times; more than any other QB was hit that entire season. Scar basically came back from his extended vacation to find out someone had thrown a rager at his house and trashed the place.  The return of Scarnecchia helped bring stability. Under his tutelage, Marcus Cannon grew into a top 10 right tackle, Joe Thuney became a promising left guard, and the unit as a whole turned into one of the better young offensive lines in the NFL, and it allowed Brady to do his thing and lead us to the SB again. No stars, just quality coaching. Personifies that mantra of "do you job".

Mike Munchak (Pittsburgh's Offensive Line Coach)

Under Munchak, the Steelers have allowed an average of 33 sacks a season. In the six years prior to that, the average was 44 sacks. If you’re projecting purely off the final nine games from a season ago, the Steelers would have the number 1 line in the league. Villanueva came on extremely strong over that period and he allowed just 12 pressures. Their run blocking, particularly with pull-blockers, has become proficient. David DeCastro earned All-Pro honors to exemplify this.
