We are much, much better team top to bottom. Their only hope for victory is altitude fatigue. The roster, yes, but the defensive roster is awesome. Jewell came on strong last year and their secondary is really good. With their pass rush that secondary becomes even better.

If so this needs to be the Cohen and Montgormery and Burton catching the ball show. This is possibly worse than Kwit in coverage. There is no way. They will have to go Nickel or big nickel whole game. Really no one is going to comment on this? This is huge match up problem for them. When people talk about why we rest our entirety of starters the entire preseason, stuff like this is why.

Summers most likely won't get much playing time besides spot duty for Martinez. Greene will be used as the "Safety/LB Hybrid" and he has been one of our better players at least during TC. I expect a lot of 3 safety looks with Amos, Greene, & Savage. All three are + players against the run although they still are all safeties so if the Bears get heads on them its going to be hard sledding for the Packers. That said the Packers are very large up front. Clark & Adams will probably see the field a lot while both Smiths are big guys at OLB with Martinez being stout in the middle as well. I think like most games but especially this one it will come down to the trenches. Clark, Adams, & the Smiths need to force double teams and allow our smaller back end players to make plays on the ball carriers or its going to be a long day against the run for the Packers.

Nervous about that game, lotta gross tonnage of pass rusher there, and if they're schemed right... Denver in Denver is a tough game for anyone. I'd be more worried about that one that the opener at home.

Running more 3 safety looks would be my guess as well. Defenses are obviously gonna play the usual "shut down the run and let Mitch beat us" routine, and I expect the same thing from the Pettine, so winning the game at the LOS on early downs against the run is gonna be a make or break strategy. Amos is gonna be pumped for this game and I'm gonna assume he also knows Cohen's tendencies as well, so the info he may potentially provide could be an invaluable asset to have. A one-on-one battle between the shifty Cohen and the hard hitting Amos would be a fun match-up to watch, If/when the opportunity presents itself. As you mentioned, the Packers are fielding a huge group up-front which is why Nagy called more run plays outside the tackles on early downs than average to offset the size advantage of a 300+ Daniels, Clark and Wilkerson. He did the same thing against other teams who have three or more 300+ lbs up front as well like; Seattle, Vikings and Rams and tends to stick with a more traditional gap style against smaller fronts. He tried to stray away from this in week 15 against the Packers and both Lions games last year-- only to quickly find the run game was less effective as a whole with this approach, so I hope he went back and learned from it. As others have said, on paper, the Bears should win. But it's hard knowing what to expect from the Packers with all of the staff changes. I do, however, know this a good game for Skrine, HHCD and Pagano to help remove some of the serious doubts I have about all 3 of them. I think Nagy's knowledge of Fangio's tendencies FAR outweighs any familiarity Fangio has with Mitchell. I mean--Nagy is simply just that bright. That, combined with all of Denver's question marks...I really don't see how the Bears don't crush the Broncos.

Plus Fangio is still learning his players' abilities and what roles they can fulfill at their best. Even if he runs a rather simplistic scheme, they still need reps in their roles to gel. IDK how good the team will be but I expect the 2nd half defensive stats to be quite a bit better than the 1st half's.
soulman
As far as the Denver game goes just remember they'll most likely be playing in 80 degree temps at an altitude of over 5000 feet. That's a difference maker for many team who aren't used to that environment especially late in the game. Keep some oxygen tanks handy on the sidelines because they may need them. Lack of it can wear someone down pretty quickly until they can adapt. If Nagy is smart they'll come out early so players can acclimate to the altitude.
