College Football and NFL Draft Discussion

Recommended Posts

We shall see once this all shakes out, and I must admit i haven't dug as deep as Mind into the O-line, but I still say that it's 1. Andrew Thomas  2.  Tristan Wirfs, and 3. Jedrick Wills

I could see Bechton as a boom or bust guy, but he would be my  4th.

Wirfs very well may be suited for guard, but I still believe he can be a T.

If you took him at 10, at worst you would still have a Quenten Nelson type Guard.

Bottom line...imo...we should have a very good o lineman when picking at 10

Josh Jones from Houston at OT is my "sleeper" OT outside of those Top 3 guys.

What did Andrew Thomas do to your mother to warrant being so low on the list @Mind Character?

Not a gosh damn thing ... lol

Like I said, my general or man-blocking OLine rankings are much different.

When the Snows piled up high and icy a shovel works best in a straight line.

Thomas is the amazing straight line one way forward shovel.

Unlike Becton he has terrible balance issues and is on the ground too much especially when asked to horizontally block or run horizontal to a zone for a cut off or seal redirect block.

He also has bad target or zone recognition skills and often attempts to reach the wrong defender on zone calls.

All that alone puts him down the list as a ZBS blocker imo coupled with the buzz I've heard about some of his commitment to the game and work habits issues.

As a man or gap blocker he's still a top prospect. in ZBS, there are better prospects imo.

Much like a guy like Josh Jones who just gets guys blocked and is a fantastic linear man blocking Tackle, but he's one of most stiff Tackles from head to toe I've seen in a long time for a top tackle prospect. He doesn't do well with sudden horizontal agility or change of direction or getting to a point/zone. Therefore, he's low on the list of ZBS Tackles despite being a quality prospect in another scheme.

Players like Wills are just good in both.

You don't like him? He's super athletic and has a nice mentality...good footwork and good production. His hand usage could get better, but he also looked great at the Senior Bowl.

He poops his pants quite a bit. Where he just looks lost. I think he’s great when locked up with someone, but he too frequently craps himself on stunts and blitzes. Thats kind of scary.

Loving Antoine Winfield Jr the more I watch. He’s in the category of I’ll be shocked if he fails.

He's the only player I know anything about and love him. Feels exactly like the kind of player we need.

He’s a tough, smart, ball hawk who likes to hit people. Exactly like his Dad.

Winfield Jr is the type of guy the Ravens would draft and let be a thorn in our *** for a decade.

Peart had 35 1/8 arms. Alex Taylor had 36 1/8.

Both are gigantic human beings.

My mock draft to address major needs and appease @Mind Character and myself

Round 1 Trade Down Draft Robert Hunt IOL Louisiana

Round 2 Antoine Winfield Jr. S Minnesota

Round 3 Matt Peart OT UCONN

Round 3 Jordan Elliott IDL Missouri

Round 4 Jack Driscoll OT Auburn

Round 6 Josiah Deguara TE Cincinnati

Round 7 Aaron Parker WR Rhode Island

I did this on thedraftnetwork website and I don't have a premium membership so I couldn't do an actual trade, but lets assume it's for future draft capital in 2021 and 2022.
