O-lines are the unit in football that is the most dependent on practice. The players union has made sure there is very little practice. The teams no longer play starters in preseason. I am not surprised they looked so bad against talented players on defense.

Next week will be a better test for them. The Vikings have better weapons all around on offense. At the same time, I have to admit that the Packers' defense did look very good last night. It should be a fun one next week at Lambeau.

Soko
People have questions about the Packers defense? They’re pretty talented everywhere. May not amount to a top tier unit or even amongst the top, but the talent is there for them to be in that conversation. They’ve got the beef, the pass rush, and the speed in the backend. I think they showed up very well... against an offense that ignored its identity and tried to throw the ball with a less than stellar QB. They can't hand pick their opponents or the gameplan any given week; But if they could, I don't think they'd look anywhere else other than that Bears O and that gameplan. I'll give them an A for yesterdays' performance, but I'll reserve judgement until there is a better offense out there.
Art_Vandalay
My guess is the Bears come out with a completely different offense against Denver next week and put up a lot of points. It's evident Trubisky will never be a traditional QB. Read options, gadget plays, trickery, and the occasional back-shoulder throw to A-Rob since that's the only somewhat deep pass he can complete. Utilize the kids athleticism. Who cares if he gets a little dinged up. You're not going to extend him.
Nabbs4u
Funny thing is people are complaining about the offense yet both QB I believe combined for 3 Preseason snaps, all hand offs by Mitch and you can tell. You wonder why in real game action both (Yes ARod too) looked like crap the vast majority of the game, that's why? Honestly expected it. Maybe not to this degree but expected it none the less. It's why I'm not thrilled or overly confident about Wentz and the Eagles come Sunday vs the Redskins a team they "should" beat. He too and every starter who didnt play a single snap (several) will probably start slow too. Week 1 is always a toss up IMO. Never a given. JAF-N72EX
Every year we see alot of over-reactions regarding QB's/teams in GDT threads. Especially televised games early in the season lol. We've seen "Is Brady done?" "Is Rodgers done?" "Is Ben done" "X team is overrated and will not win more than 5 games". ^^Never change Gen....never change lol. I've been saying since the end of last season that MT was a one read QB. They didn't score many points and he threw so many passes that everyone saw what I've been seeing. He has zero field awareness. Nagy gets guys open and when that happens, MT looks like he can play in this league. When that doesn't happen he looks worse than the QB for my highschool team. That's not overreacting. Thats just the reality of who he is as a player right now. The thing I am most disappointed about is the fact nagy didn't run the ball more, especially with Montgomery. He was their best offensive player last night and they gave him 7 touches. Green Bay had 1 lb for most of the game and they somehow didn't see that and start running more. I don't understand

Honestly, I'd settle for at least just seeing them repeat against another offense, even if it isn't a great one or anything. One week sample sizes can lie to a crazy degree in the NFL. Maybe this is the best game the Packers defense plays all year. Maybe the Bears wind up being the worst team in football this year. Maybe the Packers defense is even better than it looks. We really don't know, because one week is a blip, not a trend, and teams have one week bursts of great or horrible play all the time, especially in week one where it heavily falls on the coaching staff's offseason prep, so a team may come out crazy prepared or incredibly rusty. Week 1 last year, Ryan Fitzpatrick was the leading passer, Jared Cook the leading receiver, and Isaiah Crowell led the league in yards per rush. The Jets won a blowout, the Bengals looked clutch, and the Bucs offense looked unstoppable. One week is not proof or trend. And it would be different if the Packers had an elite defense last year. That's why no one doubts the Bears D coming out of this. It's just a continuation. But Green Bay last year was a below average defense, and free agents are never a sure thing.
