Kirksey is the leader of the defense, just isn't the best player. Randall would have been ahead of Garrett also. They are good vocal leaders especially Kirksey. The new starting quarterback, acquired this offseason from Buffalo, was one of five Browns named as team captains for 2018. Taylor is joined by offensive lineman Joel Bitonio, punter Britton Colquitt, linebacker Christian Kirksey and defensive end Myles Garrett as those earning captain honors.
