I think his skills have diminished but if he had enough juice in the tank he would elevate others to this mindset. So I can see the reasoning behind it. I don't see it getting us any closer to the Super Bowl than Carr would so I'd pass, but with the move and Gruden being a media guy I could see him pulling the trigger. The team needs a lot of work but could make playoffs. KC will snuff us out if our D isn't top 10 if not top 5 and....That's a ways off. "I've been telling him, it's really about competition. Competing. And hanging around and being around people who have the same mindset, being in that environment all the time. It helps in terms of what you're trying to accomplish." I also think Brady would help with preparation. He could probably teach our coaches a few things.

agarcia34
On the fence with Jones, but him and Mullen would give the Raiders an extremely athletic CB duo that they haven’t had in a long time.

Depends on the $ for me. Definite area of weakness, is in the top 10 of CB's and only 27. However I saw some tweets earlier that he's going to ask for $16 M per. That's too much for me. But if it's around ~$12ish then I would be interested.

We're talking about throwing the wallet at Chris Jones, Tom Brady and Byron Jones? That is major dough.

Pretty much everything else will have to be upgraded by the draft though.

They'll make some major cuts to fit him and Patty in somehow. Brady is a big question mark who I still think he ends up a Patriot. B. Jones is a star and should be cheaper than splashing tons of money at other star positions like Ngakoue/Clowney/Armstead. Littleton and/or Jones would be a home run as far as I am concerned.
jimkelly02
If we are unable to land Byron Jones or James Bradberry, who are the only two outside CB’s I feel are worth the money instead of just resigning Worley, how do you all feel about signing Kendall Fuller to be our slot CB. I’ve seen several sources estimate him get 4-5M per over 2-3 years in free agency. He was very impressive in ‘18 and not so much in ‘19 (from what I’ve research, I didn’t watch him play besides YouTube). He was moved around to Safety later in the season due to injuries and did better. In ‘18 he was a top slot CB. Personally, I think at that projected price tag he’s a very intriguing fall back option. drfrey13
I like Jones and just like every other FA it comes down to the contract. My only issue with a Mullen/Jones combo is TOs. Jones has 2 INTs for his career and Mullen had 1 last year. Maybe those numbers will increase if teams are forced to throw at them. Would really like Worley to go along with those 2. Would be able to limit/shutdown the oppositions #1, #2, and TE. That would also free up Abrams and Simmons (if drafted) to freelance around the field. All 3 can lock down someone 1v1. big_palooka
Byron Jones has 2 career picks? Is that accurate. What top tier CB has that low if impact turnovers.

What their likely to do is cut and restructure a bunch of guys and leverage the future cap to win now. this isn’t a bad thing for us, long term. Hopefully if they are able to keep Jones they enter cap hell in 2-3 years and then an incredibly high paid Mahomes doesn’t have enough talent around him to keep winning.
RaidersAreOne
One other thing to consider with Jones is the fact he shuffled around the secondary his first few years. Tried him at S iirc and then finally at CB where he flourished.
RaidersAreOne
Another under the radar signing at LB could be Nick Kwiatkoski.
