What ... are they playing soap hockey in the showers after practice? As Coach Jarsch used to say, “Knock! It! Off!”

Maybe that was just a thing in the 70s. I get the impression that young men today won’t play Soap Hockey in the shower out of concern for the other guys seeing their wee wees.

In this case, dropping the soap is not a bad thing.

Re-posted from The Athletic on Mike Pettine's defense:

Pettine sharpened their competitive spirit by raising the stakes at practice. There were times in New York when Pettine’s meeting room became a discussion hall for determining how many interceptions the defense needed on a given day. Pettine and the players would set a benchmark of as many as five picks in a single practice, and there were actual repercussions if not enough passes were intercepted.

So confident was the Jets’ defense under Pettine — it finished first, third, fifth and eighth in the league in total defense during his tenure — that players were instructed to taunt the offense when skill players shifted before the snap.

“We had a thing where we had to say the words, ‘You so crazy!’” Cole said. “The offense would start shifting and stuff, and we would have to say, ‘You so crazy!’ Because it didn’t matter to us. It don’t affect what we’re doing. So you can do that **** all you want, it doesn’t matter. .. It wouldn’t affect us because we were so confident in our defense and knew our concept.”

Rodgers says they need to speed up the process from huddle - to- snap

“I can do a better job, a little more urgency out of the huddle,” Rodgers said. “We had a lot of snaps late. We’re trying to get them to show their hand at times, but we had too many up against the clocks, a couple of delays. We’ve just got to get in and out of the huddle a little bit better. That’s something that I can do better, for sure.  “The noise is a factor, for sure. It doesn’t matter what plays are coming in. When you’re dealing with noise and obviously, their crowd was getting loud early in the play clock, so that always puts a strain, regardless of who’s calling the plays.”

“We do have some long calls in the plan. That’s just the way the offense is. There’s a number of checks for different plays. It’s getting that call in and repeating it and going out there and trying to execute as quickly as possible. We made some subtle changes to hopefully help with some of that tempo.”

Shocking.   Was Rodgers not aware that the play clock running down was a thing prior to this season?

evidence says no he wasn't

2018 has no relevance to the topic at hand, not sure why its being brought up in the context of the posted info.
AR has a new HC a new OC a new offense, a completely new language a new QB coach. He also has team mates learning a new scheme too
All of those things combine to make the game day operation slower than it was in the offense he ran for a decade.

I think rodgers overanalyzes the field, that's why he brings it down to 1 sometimes. Hackett even said as much during his presser Aaron likes to take in so much info the defense is giving before the snap. That being said he needs to pick up that tempo and not try to do too much sometimes also.
