Are Rivera or Newton in trouble if Panthers miss the playoffs?

Do you think they could be out of jobs if they fail to make the playoffs again?

Stop it. Rivera's name is already cemented (ideally a DC) and a talent like Cam,, especially with his skillset, will never have a problem finding a place in the NFL.

And that's coming from someone who likes Cam but also understand his current state.

The problem with Cam is this league rewards and succeeds based on efficient QB play. Good comp %, good TD:INT ratio, good ANY/A.

Cam has always been terrible at those, his MVP season being an outlier.

If his running is gone, his usefulness is very limited.

I get the feeling Cam retires when this contract is up, or after the year possibly.

Have you not seen his Game day wardrobes? The Hats and Scarves alone will force him to play several more years to collect pay checks.

Will Grier will start before the end of the year. Tons of people thought this dude was the 2nd best QB in the draft.

The home town will call for Touchdown Jesus at some point.

Will Grier might be worse than Jimmy Clausen. He was horrid in the preseason. The worst QB play I've seen from a Panther, easily, since that 2010 season.

Rivera is hopefully fired after this year, along with Marty Hurney, and the team shifts gears to being offensive-minded given that we have decent tools to have a fun offense between Moore, Samuel, Olsen, CMC, and Cam. And this might sound weird but Cam's game tonight was actually kind of encouraging. I haven't seen him sling it like that in years. I thought his shoulder was dead forever. I think he just needs to work through it and get his timing and rythym on those throws fixed. He had more zip and air underneath his passes that I'd seen since early 2016 probably. He's been dinking and dunking for most of his recent career and he just needs to get his groove back. Wet ball and god awful OLine play (where were the screens and chips to help out Daryl Williams?) probably didn't help either.

Yup... and even then, the only outlier there was the TD/INT ratio wasn't it? Fluke year as far as I'm concerned. Modern offenses have little room for spotty throwers, not when WC concepts have infiltrated every playbook. You can make it work when you have a revolutionary running QB like Cam, and they made it work for some time, but he is breaking down, and that is just going to leave you with a pretty low tier QB.

Cam is lucky to have his MVP season because the rest of his career looks....oof

That's what statisticians call "an outlier".
