To hell with Minka Fitz****rick.  Miami is rebuilding.  We will be adding as much talent as possible starting next season (including a franchise QB), and he can't put up with one really bad losing season.  I'm glad that piece of **** is gone.

Tanking for Tua is now in high gear.  We'll get Tua with our natural pick (#1 overall) and the rest of the picks can be BPA.  Although I suspect that once we draft Tua, the FO will have the brains to immediately put a good OL in front of him.

BTW, the Texans and Steelers should both have winning records, so Miami's 2nd and 3rd first rounders will be in the late teens and twenties.  If the 2021 draft is deeper than the 2020 draft, expect our FO to trade a few picks next April for some 2021 picks.  You can usually get one round higher as "interest" on trading picks from different drafts.

Additionally, if 2020 is deep, we might trade down a couple of times to get more seconds and thirds.  Everyone loves first rounders, but Super Bowl teams are mostly built with second rounders through fifth rounders.

I'll remind everyone that Grier wanted to trade down and get Lamar Jackson.  Our POS GM T-bomb vetoed that idea.  Grier has 10 times the brains of t-bomb, he might actually do a really good job with these picks.

This is why i didnt want to trade for Rosen , and would've rather invested those picks all on the OL this last seaon.

But oh well

Look, that's fine.  But even if we draft Tua, we'll still need a quality backup.  Rosen might be that quality backup.  And we still retain the option to trade him to a team that might need a decent QB.  He could perform fairly well for Miami and raise his stock.  There are a variety of ways that the Rosen trade could end up being worth it.

Has Rosen shown anything to prove he's even a quality backup, though?

Even if that's the case, is a 2nd worth a quality backup, though?

Meh.

He hasn't been given a chance to show anything.  We won't know the answer to this until he inevitably gets the starting gig after the bye week.

The perfect scenario still involves Rosen balling out this year and showing that he is worth building around.  The D is so bad that even if the offense puts up 30 a game, they will still lose.#1 overall pick is all but guaranteed.  Trade the #1 overall to a team desparate for Tua for a bevy of high picks and then use the accumulated draft capital to fill in a team around Rosen.  If Rosen blows in 2021, take Lawrence at the top of 2021 (or Fields or whoever they love). If Rosen takes the next step and delivers on all his talent, just go BPA with everything.   All the while use the crazy amount of cap space to bring in players at positions where BPA wasn't available.  But again, this is the perfect scenario.

Even if Rosen blows in 2021, it will be hard to be this bad again that year to land Lawrence. He's almost certainly going first overall.

If the rumors are true and the Dolphins do covet Tua, we should take our guy.

Totally agree.  If they have such a strong conviction about him being a cornerstone of this franchise for years, he needs to be the pick in every scenario other than the pipedream of Rosen coming in and lighting it up this year.

This past weeks games are all the proof you need that in todays NFL you have got to have a quality backup QB, defenses are to fast and play to knock your QB out of the game and succeed a lot even with all the rules to protect the passer.

I'm beginning to think that Justin Fields has a chance to displace Trevor Lawrence as the #1 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

I know Rosen looked pretty bad today but the Redskins made Brady look like a Rookie for a half last week until he does what he does in the second half. My personal  Rosen QB season tracker took a little dive today but is still higher then when he was first signed.
