Some cap stuff on Zeke:

Quote

But while there’s plenty to like on Elliott’s end of things, that doesn’t mean the Cowboys didn’t get anything from their side of the deal. Elliott’s 2019 and 2020 cap figures remain team-friendly at $6.3 MM and $10.9 MM, respectively. And while the length of the deal sounds impressive, the Cowboys have few obligations on the back end. Per OverTheCap.com, the 2025 and 2026 seasons contain no guaranteed money, and 2024 has only $2.6 MM. Through five seasons, the effective average is just over $13 MM per year, and the average dips under $13 MM through six or seven seasons. On a per-year basis, the puts him behind Todd Gurley’s deal ($14.4 MM) and in line with Le’Veon Bell ($13.1 MM) and David Johnson ($13 MM).

Even If Dak goes on to win the MVP and SB, no way he or anyone deserves that much money. Especially in a sport where things and or players can go south real fast.

$33.75m is right in line with every other QB who signed this offseason.

This is how NFL contracts work.

He'd get more if he hit the open market.

This is the tip of the iceberg. All contracts are already headed this direction and for the very reason you stated, short careers. The NFL is a massive cash cow and the players should be cashing in

The sport may be a cash cow, and players careers short, but the rate that contracts are going are on too great of an incline. players in the past made pennies on the dollar compared to now. All in a much more dangerous time. (ex. concussions going unchecked or diagnosed) While the NFL is a bigger cash cow than ever. Even they will go broke if the current rate of salaries continue to sky-rocket like this.

How far are you looking back? Because QB contracts and a % of cap space havent really changed in 25 years.

Daks contract would hurt the Cowboys as much as Steve Youngs did the 9ers. And it hasnt really hurt the NFL or any teams at all.
