Too much demand for people wanting to watch their out-of-town teams. People will watch for free through channels the NFL won't profit from. Fewer and fewer people will choose to go through the hassle of DirectTV when those channels exists. We saw how Game of Thrones pushed HBO to offer their HBO now series. Demand doesn't really matter in this case. The demand was there the last time the deal came up, and DTV just upped the ante. They run the risk of losing subscribers by the millions if they lose or change the deal. They're going to do everything they can to keep the status quo.
