He had 13 for 66 and a TD when he blew out his knee early in the 3rd quarter. First meeting in 2018 was his first game back from the hamstring, he only got 10 carries for 89 yards. Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has been the rushing leader for most of this season, but while McCaffrey was on his bye this week, Cook ran for 142 yards against the Lions. Cook now has 725 yards through seven weeks, most in the NFL. In second place is Leonard Fournette of the Jaguars, who has 715 yards through seven games. McCaffrey is third with 618 yards in six games, followed by Cleveland’s Nick Chubb with 607 in six games. Those four players are very close in yards per game. Cook forces defenses to cheat and Cousins has been making them pay. Point being we’ve become accustomed to having a clear cut #1 RB from Tomlinson to Peterson. It seems more wide open now but the talent level overall seems superior than a few years ago.
