Didn't watch Murder She Wrote when younger, but discovered it several years ago and enjoyed it a great deal. I remember my grandma watching that show and wondering what the appeal was. I like episodic shows...but Murder She Wrote, from what i remember was, absurdly formulaic. To be fair, there are variations: sometimes the victim dies almost immediately, other times we'll get halfway through the episode before a body shows up. Sometimes the victims are sympathetic, other times they are monsters who had it coming. Sometimes the homicide investigators Jessica works with are competent and supportive, sometimes not. Occasionally the detective turns out to be the culprit. The setting varied greatly; we saw murders all over the map, from Amish country to Athens, Greece.
