Bolts223
Obviously the Rams won tonight and are 3-0 but Goff has not looked good at all this season. He isn’t good when faced with pressure and has a ton of offensive talent around him. Is he actually good or is he merely a product of McVay and excellent talent surrounding him? Nazgul
Hmm. Maybe someone should make a Lamar Jackson vs. Jared Goff thread in the comparisons forum.
Riftty
Is Carson Wentz actually good? Is Kirk Cousins actually good? Is Baker Mayfield actually good? Is Dak actually good? I could go all day. Goff is 3-0 after a Superbowl loss.

rocky_rams
He is good. He doesn’t have to be all time great to win games and Super Bowls. McVay obviously believes in him which is why he advocated an extension for Goff. The Rams are the most studied team in the NFL because they reached the super bowl last season so naturally everyone wants to have their best game against them. McVay just needs to find ways to counter. In order for Goff to become a top 3-5 QB, he needs to be able to make better decisions. The Rams are 3-0 with Gurley not being the focal point of our offense like he was in the past seasons Nonetheless, a QB is mainly judged by winning and Goff has been at the very top since McVay came in. McVay doesn’t make the throws or the 4th quarter come backs. So yes he is good. Top 10 good. Edited September 23, 2019 by rocky_rams

Forge
Just now, ITS_RAMMY_PLAYBOI said: Oh wow. Imagine if we lost. I would have then started the "Is Aaron Donald actually good" thread. I'm glad it happened this way....this was probably the better thread to have.
tyler735
Certainly is a bit overrated. He has had stretches of brilliance, but those stretches have been way to few and far between in his past 15 or so games. As of right now he's likely be a fringe top 10 QB, but is trending downward due to his inconsistent performances as of late. He easily could have cost the Rams the game tonight with his poor decision making, but luckily for him the Rams defense bailed him out. LeotheLion
He's clearly good. He clearly didn't play great today. He also had very uncharacteristic drop passes and no run game.

That thread in NFL comparisons for top 5 young QBs probably has 25% mentions of Goff. If people think he is a top 5 QB he is overrated. If people think he is a top 10 QB then he isn't playing like it. But I think most have him just outside that. I admittedly have him as a top 10 guy and have been disappointed with his play. I think he did a lot of great things tonight but the turnovers were awful even if 1 was definitely trapped. -Hope-
he's good, not great. i don't think he's really even particularly overrated, it's not like he's commonly talked about as a top 5 QB. he's a good QB you can win with.
