Howler
You're still up 16 against a jet team late that had not converted a third down. So you throw Brady back into a meaningless game scenario? Very odd. https://larrybrownsports.com/football/bill-belichick-benches-jarret-stidham-pick-six-blowout/515256 Edited September 23, 2019 by Howler

Unlikely, yes, but it certainly wasn’t meaningless.
LeotheLion
He probably had Pats -21.
FinSting
I bet they're on to Buffalo.
Hunter2_1
Same thing happened to Matt Cassel once. It's probably either a message or he wasn't about to let NYJ back in, no matter how unlikely.
childofpudding
Another pick 6 by Stidham and it's a one-score game. It wasn't odd at all.

RandyMossIsBoss
I can think of 2 readily apparent reasons Nowadays more than ever we see teams score in bunches towards the end of games once the run game is abandoned and offense starts playing with nothing to lose while the defense plays just not to lose. There was more than enough time for the Jets to erase that deficit, as unlikely as that'd be with Falk at QB. That was a bench worthy mistake by Stidham. Can't make those kindd of throws. NJerseypaint
Bill has always played to the final whistle. I was actually shocked to see him even trot out Stidham (he didn't sit Brady against the Dolphins) and happy that the Jet's made him second guess that move.
